  • Who is going to play our next turn?

    Purpose of this thread

This thread is primarily intended to be a public log of the communication between our President and his VP. It is made public, so that any member of the team can quickly check and tell other teams, in case there is a need to. This thread is to be considered read-only for everybody, but the President and his VP. The only exception is when someone else gets appointed to play our turn. No comments, no responses here, please. Let's keep this thread brief and boring.

    Rules

In a chat held earlier today (or was it yesterday...? it's 4:30am here...), Jack and me agreed upon a certain standard procedure regarding our turns:
    • AdmiralPJ, the Foreign Minister of Lux Invicta, has been officially asked to arrange for the savegame to be sent to our President (Jack_www) and VP (me). Request acknowledged during the chat conversation and later confirmed by a post in the Lux Invicta public thread.
    • The President and VP may, at their discretion, report receiving the new savegame from Lux Invicta by a brief post in this thread.
    • In order to prevent cross-playing, whoever plays the turn for us, must post a brief message in this thread prior to actually playing the turn, informing others the turn is going to be played.
    • The President shall always set the topic of our private chatroom to read the time when he is going to be online again, ready to play the turn. The VP is free to play the turn at his own discretion, should the save from Lux Invicta arrive earlier than three hours before the President is - according to the current chatroom topic - expected to be online again.
Anyone playing the turn will follow these guidelines:
    • quit Civ3 if running and relaunch it
    • load the savegame using the Load Game item in the Main Menu (the PBEM game password is HisBrickness)
    • play the turn according to instructions given by the Ministers and/or Senate.
    • save the game as DATE_Legoland.SAV (as in 4000BC_Legoland.SAV) prior to actually finishing the turn, to allow for screenshots be taken later (the moment our turn is completed by clicking the End Turn button, the savegame becomes accessible by Gathering Storm only). This savegame shall be - for the time being - emailed to me at vondrack@jimaz.cz. I will take care of making and posting relevant screenshots.
    • complete the turn by clicking the End Turn button, saving the game as NEXTDATE_from_Legoland.SAV (as in 3950BC_from_Legoland.SAV). Note, please, that since we are the last team to play a certain year, the year changes and the savegame we forward to GS shall bear the number of the NEXT year = the year GS is going to play.
    • email the NEXTDATE_from_Legoland.SAV to the appointed member(s) of Gathering Storm. Currently, the two addresses we are supposed to send our finished turn to are sirralph@gmx.com and nbarclay@hiwaay.net.
    • post a brief message in the Saved Game thread in the main (public) PtW forum
    • post a brief message in this thread, reporting the savegame was sent out

    4000BC

Just to keep our records tidy, the first turn was first played by me on Sunday night - Jack was busy with his RL affairs and temporarily appointed me his deputy for the turn 1. It was later found out that a bug caused the savegame to become corrupted, perhaps while with Lux Invicta, setting the accelerated production on. To fix the problem, the last three teams replayed their first turn on Monday. The problem has hopefully been identified and resolved.

The correct 4000BC savegame was sent by me to nye/GS on Monday, Dec 2 at about 9:00am GMT.

      3950 BC

I have just recieved the 3950 BC save from Lux Invicta, and will be sending the save off as soon as I play the turn. I will have our worker road instead of mine first since the infomation that Kloreep brought up indicates that it is better this way. As there is a tie, and I voted for mine first, but changed m mind, I will road the cattle first.

I have played the turn and sent the save to NYE at 8:27pm Pacific Time, Wednesday Dec. 4, 2002.

As Jack hasn't shown up yet and there is very little to do anyway, I am going to play the turn.

The 3900BC savegame was sent by me to nye/GS on Friday, Dec 6 at about 3:55pm GMT.

            3850BC

Well, I know I am breaking rules... but since there is so little to do in the game now and everybody wants to get out of the boring opening stage as quickly as possible, I went ahead and played the turn right after receiving the save from Lux Invicta.

The 3850BC savegame was sent by me to nye/GS on Saturday, Dec 7 at about 9:05am GMT.

                3750 BC

3750 BC has been played and sent to NYE
at 10:19 pm Pacfic Standard time on Sunday Dec. 8, 2002.

All I did was have our warrior fortify in the city and had the city work on a second warrior.

(Well I was wrong about the year, but when the turn ended it said in the box that the date was 3700 BC, but that was after the turn was done. So really the turn I played was 3750 BC, but I just made a misstake. Sorry for that)

                  3700BC

Since our turn is precisely determined this time, I will not wait for Jack and play the turn. (Jack, accept my apologies for editing your previous post - I just had to correct the incorrect year mentioned. )

The 3700BC savegame sent to nye/GS on Tuesday, Dec 10 at about 1:30pm GMT.

                              3600BC

As all we are going to do in 3600 BC is just moving Howard and Conan in directions informally agreed upon in the forum, I will go ahead and play the turn. Hope Jack will not mind.
