  • GS is in the Ind Era!

They likely have a shot at getting to ToE before us. I think we'll need to bee-line for Scientific Method, probably ignoring even Industrialization until we get to Sci Meth.

How did they get so far ahead? I guess they ignored all the optional techs we took...
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

Yes, looks like that. The good news about this "bad" news is that if there is a team we could afford waving Hoover in favour of, it would be GS. They will be weak in the shield production department even with this powerful wonder. And the stronger they get, the bigger threat they remain to Bobians, which is something we should not mind...

Frankly, I am not surprised at all. They started racing ahead in tech research immediately after the war ended. When we started doing Physics, they knew it already. When we started ToG, they knew Magnetism. Besides, as you can recall, our lead in GNP was pretty thin before we jumped into our GA.

They are effectively 6 turns of research ahead of us (as we need to finish ToG in 2t and then do Magnetism in 4t). Now they have to make a choice... risking a bit that Voxes will get the tech they will start researching... or stop the research and waive the tech lead.

Plus, they are making our research cheaper.

I do not really mind... what I am surprised is that they did not try to tech embargo us, feeding everybody else with techs we would have to research on our own (with no possibility to get anything in return). As it is, we will be able to trade ToG to GoW, Magnetism to ND, and most probably even ToG to ND (I am going to post my Thursday chat with Zayxus right after playing the turn). This makes the whole GS research project kinda not very profitable...

Yes, if they get the ToE and Hoover, they might as well just paint a big ol' target on themselves again. Anything that takes attention away from us is probably good in the long run...

Regarding the ToE and Hoover... I have been looking at the save and checking the F7 screen. I found out GS is probably trying to "confuse" us by seemingly building a number of obsolete wonders - Great Library, Oracle... I am not sure what this means, could be just some kind smoke-screen.

Trying to figure out if we still have a reasonable chance to build ToE/Hoover, I counted the minimum number of turns needed to research Scientific Method (for GS): 4+4+4+4=16 - though, that's just theory, as they are unable to research at 100% all the time and those four techs they need (Steam Power, Medicine, Electricity, and Scientific Method) are worth (120+100+140+100)*24=11040 beakers. Assuming they can do ~600bpt, it would be 5+4+5+4=18t minimum, I think.

Now, we need (4+2) turns more - I do not believe that is doable, unless Voxes get exactly the tech GS have chosen as their first in the industrial era. If GS planned their research and prebuilds properly, they will get ToE and most likely Hoover, too.

If they are after these too, of course.
