Avast, ye Legomen! Throughout our history, the question has come up as to how do we best protect our homeland. As I look at the seas around us, the answer seems obvious: make sure no one ever gets here.
Dominance of the high seas should be one of our primary military goals for severals reasons:
-Intercepting ships before they get to our shores is one of the best defences possible.
-Strong naval transport capability means others will be wary of engaging us, as we could strike their lands easily.
-Eventual naval bombardment capability is good offensively and defensively.
Currently, I would wager we have the largest navy in the world, albeit only with 6 ships. I think shipbuilding should remain a priority, possibly adding new harbors to produce veterans, and definately going for Magellen's Voyage. If we can sustain a large, veteran fleet with extra movement capabilities, we will be a strong position of power.
So let us begin planning now for our future on the high seas, and let us find our destiny on the waves!
