  • Elections for July cabinet

Continuing the tradition of our non-election elections, thought I would start a thread for placing nominations for the July cabinet and to bring up some issues:

    For June our cabinet was:

    President - ZargonX
Military Architect - Vondrack (also VP)
    Master Builder - Kloreep
    Foreign Minister - Nimitz
    Enlightened - Tiberius
and our various ambassadors (some are vacant of course)

I for one would like to express my appreciation for the June cabinet and their excellent work as we have remained one of the strongest powers while still being friendly to most civs (one certain RP nemesis notwithstanding).

That being said, I think that it might be time to reorganize the government structure a bit.

For instance in talking with Kloreep in the chatroom, we both wondered if it might be an idea to now split the MB role.

Originally we had anticipated this possibility by thinking about a labor minister for the workers if the MB role became too much, however, Kloreep made an interesting suggestion: split the role but into a northern and southern MB each responsible for the planning of their own area.

I also wonder if we need to expand the role of the Enlightened somewhat. Someone once suggested to me that we give the decisions on slider control to this post and/or rush build decisions. We probably do need someone to deal with the finances as well.

Finally I also wonder if we should modify our ambassador situation. Currently our chats with other teams involve any combination of our FAM, President or VP. I wonder whether we should scrap the Ambassador positions in favour of a deputy foreign minister position (or 2 deputies) who would be responsible to provide a 2nd or more Lego voice to any chat if only one other responsible person is around and/or to be responsible for 2 or 3 designated teams.

Anyhow I would recommend a nomination period for the current positions for the July term ending between Friday June 27 and Monday June 30th after which we can have any elections that are necessary.

to changing the FAM ambassador system to deputies. And to having two regional MBs, assuming someone else is willing to step forward.

I will run for either MB or a regional MB position if no one else wants it, but I'd be perfectly happy to sit out a term too.

I will be happy to fill in any position that woud otherwise remain vacant - I have found out that it does not really matter what position I am serving at... I am still doing the same things.

I would be happy to remain the Military Architect, but if Nimitz doesn't wish to keep his FAM position (as indicated in the chat), I would probably prefer switching to the FAM, leaving the Military Architect position to someone else (Leo? you seemed to be quite interested in the defense plan...).

Well I am also waiting to see who is running for what before I decide where I am running.

Personally I am favoring either MA if Vondrack runs for FAM instead or Enlightened or a secondary MB if it exists...

        oh yeah *bump*

I would be interested in the MA position. I know I could do this effectively. I not involved in enough chats (none basicly) to be an effective FM.

Of course as MA, I would support the Revised Grand Defense Plan proposed by Vondrack and supported by most of the team.

Nimitz, are you still with us? Do you wish to continue as the FAM or would you like to take a break?

I think the role of the Enlightened was widened already. It is not only about research and science slider control, which admitedly isn't too much of a burden. The Enlightened is also responsibil for keeping track of treaties and trades and make trade (tech, resources or anything else) proposals. I think that rush build decisions have nothing to do with the Enlightened and should be kept as a part of the MB's decisions.

This being said, I'd like to remain in my position, but I don't mind at all if anyone is willing to run agaist me.

Oh, er, sorry, I meant to announce this earlier:

I will be running for President again this term. I hope that my weeks of service to Legoland have been good weeks, and I look forward to continuing on in this role for the next term.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

                  So, current confirmed slate...

                  Prez: ZargonX
Vice-Prez: vondrack (I assume, since he wants to keep doing the same old wherever he is )
                  MA: lmtoops
FAM: ? (But if Nimitz isn't returning for this term, vondrack can take over)

Between Nimitz and vondrack, we'll get a good FAM. So, split the MB between Sharpe and me this term?

Not sure if I can be "just a VP"... I think our constitution says that one of the Ministers is appointed the VP... Though, if you wish to create a specific position just for me, so that I could keep doing the same old everything that's necessary, that might be an idea...

Im happy to see that the Enlightened is no longer seen as a minister. Does this mean that I can take a vacation? OK, although I was planning it for August

                        Sorry, forgot about Enlightened.

vondrack: Since I haven't seen Nimitz post in a while, or in the chatroom, I assume he's probably gone/not on very often, which would mean he's unable to do FAM. So I don't think we need to change the constitution.

I've been chatting with Sharpe, and, unless there are any objections, he'll MB for the south (currently Karina, Sharpehaven, Forkmouth, Farmerville, Tarzania, Zargonia, and Logville) and I'll MB the north (currently Legopolis, Jackson, Panama, Red Bricks, Dye Fields, and Kloreepville). Workers can be handled by whoever has them in their region, though I'm sure there'll be some movement on the Red Brick Road (like Gus and Stanley, moving north to the gold soon).

Given our success in calling the bluff of RP re them building the Sistine Chapel, I think that we need to regularly check the foreign cities to see their population rises and falls to alert us to major building projects and potential new cities popping up from settlers being built (also might help us track how many workers they could be building).

Given the large task this would involve, perhaps each of us can look at 1 civ each regularly (or 2 if this sort of thing interests you).

In fact what we are lacking is an Intelligence Minister. Somebody who would collect all the available data about other civs and try to extract valuable hidden data, to discover possible threats, and so on.
Since we don't have a person who would do all this, we can start with Sharpe's proposal with each of us taking a civ for "study".
                            I'll take Vox j/k

OK, then, if nobody objects, I will run for the FAM.

                              Good point, re: Intelligence Minister...
