  • Operation Fleeing Immortal - Voxes on Legos Minor?

Alright. Just heard back from Beta/Vox. Their peace initiative was rejected, GS apparently wants them off Estonia. Beta still does not give up, but it is somewhat dubious if his current plan could succeed - it would need RPers to actually stand in their word, committing troops, which is unlikely to happen.

Our settler will be ready in Legopolis in 2 turns. The next settler build hasn't been scheduled yet, so if we are serious about helping Voxes, offering them refuge on Legos Minor, we need to act NOW, sending this settler there to found their new home.

There are only three simple options in this poll. I am not going to rehash pros and cons of planting Voxes in Legos Minor - for a quite extensive debate, see the Vox Controli F.A. thread, please.

Option 1, YES: Let's save Voxes from extinction and help them become our "little brother". This means we use our next settler to found a settlement on Legos Minor. We would immediately (or very soon afterwards) hand this settlement over to Voxes. Even though we will probably receive some kind of a compensation from them later on, for the foreseeable future, this will be a GIFT.

Option 2, NO: What happens to Voxes is none of our business. If they lose their war with GS, so be it - let they die. Legos Minor shall be ours, we are not going to let anybody settle there.

Option 3, BANANA: We shall send a worker to Legos Minor and use him to found a banana plantation high in the mountains. As the Vox-GS war showed, bananas may be a very effective weapon.

I do realize I am omitting an option "YES, BUT" - but it is intentional. I do not believe we should ask anyone else about if we are "allowed" to save Voxes or not. I do not believe we need to bring any more "if's" into the equation. If you feel there should be an option like that or if you feel you have no option to vote for, post here, please, and explain - if there are more people feeling that way, I will repost the poll with different/more options.

I'll probably vote "yes," but I believe we should sign a treaty clearing spelling out at least some obligations - on both sides - before actulaly gifting the city. Perhaps even before sending Vox the Legos Minor map (which we are going to do, at least if we want Vox to have a say on their future capitol). Some clauses I'd like to see:

    1) Legoland will not go to war against Vox, nor Vox against Legoland, though there may of course be phony wars for Lego's GA and perhaps even GL farming.

    2) Vox may not declare war on a team without Lego's approval.

    3) Vox sell their WM after getting the city on Legos Minor, nor may Vox sell the out-of-game map of Legos Minor. (I'd rather not have any more of Legos revealed, even if it does come under Vox control, but this clause is debatable.)

    4) Vox may not settle S of X tile. (To be determined; did we ever decide on a line when forming the Lux treaty?) Vox and Lego will sign a ROP once an embassy is established; however, Vox must have permission for any units travelling through Lego territory.

    5) Lego has final say over any resource deals Vox negotiates. (Don't want Vox trading to a future target, though I'm sure any such situation would be unintentional.)

    6) Vox must trade any resources they have but Legoland does not to Lego upon request. (Who knows, Legos Minor might turn out to be the only source of saltpeter or oil; I doubt it, but it's possible, and we don't want to give up any resources. This one could be two way if it seems too demanding.)

I agree that a treaty is a good idea. Nothing very "legal", just a list of points that will make it clear we get along smoothly in the future. This thread would be a good place to discuss such a treaty.

OTOH - I might have made a mistake of presenting the poll as too "big". What we need to decide fast (2 turns, which is approximately those 3 days) is if we send our settler to Legos Minor.

Unless Voxes get in the danger of extinction within the first ~10 turns and our corruption levels remain reasonable, I believe we shall try to keep control of the new city and keep building the first defender there. Defending a "foreign" city with our units from outside may be quite a task on the barb infested Legos Minor.

to sending settler (with a Merc, of course) to Legos Minor.

But do shields remain stored when a city is turned over? I don't think so...
