I think we should have a test orders thread. Lets use an earlier save (but with the same cities) and test which format of the orders works the best.

Why not tilt the city square to match the angle? (Agree on which way its gonna tilt before hand)

Then we can call square 1- 9 and refer to the outer edges as "11", "22" "33" etc...

          1. There would be 2 each of 11,33,77,99.

          2. A tilt system may be complicated (esp. if one doesn't know or forgot the direction) and may lead to miscommunications.

          3. The main reason I introduce this system is because it is the tried and tested system in the SPDG. I am familiar with it, and it is also rather simple once you notice that you start from the tile N of the city and just go around clockwise.

the system that most people find familiar with is allright with me. I like the keypad system since is not just for unit movement but of position.

For example, tile 20 would be simply tile 8-7 from the city.

Anyway, do I hear a poll?

Or the easy one we made for the $Mini-game.

              DIRECTONAL LEGEND FOR TILE LOCATIONS
For Example, if the city was Timeline, the Green tile would be "Timeline wnw", and the blue tile would be "Timeline S".

Sorry GF, I know I don't get along with ET that well, but I like his system better.

MZ, your system is ok, but since you can get to the same tile different ways, then some tiles will have more than one number. In you example, tile 20 could be known as 8-7 or 7-8.

yes but that's the point, that way you won't have to memorize 20 tiles' names or numbers, you would just point out the one with the keypads.

So in that case there would be no problem in saying tile 8-7 or 7-8 as in both cases you would understand which tile you are talking about.

again, I don't mind which system we eventually use, I just think this is the simplest way.

The problem is I'm lazy, with both of these numbering systems I have to get out a chart, or look at the number pad on my keyboard. With the direction system, I simply have to look at the game screen. NorthWest of Skulgaria (with caps hinting its adjacent to the city) and northnorthwwest of Skulgaria hinting its on the outer ring of the city.

I can use GF's system, I like it better than the keypad system. I like E_T's system best of all, but its not me having to read the orders.

Good point. I'll use what ever system GF wants as he will be the one who has to figure out what everything means (um.... this is OBVIOUSLY out of Character...)
