  • RP, ND, Legoland, and potential PR disasters

This is just my assessment of the current and future situations, please discuss further.

If everything goes as planned, and we join ND in attacking RP together comming up relatively soon, it will not be long before the other teams will begin to at least assume that we have a long term relation with ND. I highly recommend we persuade ND to delay Legoland until after this protion is finished, and we both have better boats and units to assault the enemy. We can assume safely that RP has at least attempted to form another alliance after having their one with lux fail. We do not appear to be the ones the have chosen, perhaps ND is, and is playing us, perhaps both Vox and GS are allied and preparing ND and GoW demise. RP will attempt to assissinate our Public Relations after and during this war. They are lead by a lawyer (Togas), and a politician (Arnelos) in that area, would you expect anything less?

This is where we have already laid the ground for our PR salvation. We should be responding along these lines: We gently remind folks that we are mercenaries. Lux attempted to appeal to our emotions in saving them. RP attempted to appeal to our senses in securing the island and removing the 'foreign' team from the game, assuring an Apolyton victory. Neither attempted to appeal to our pocketbook, the very basis upon which this team was founded. This should at least soften the blow to our PR and perhaps garner more profitable negotiations revolving around war in the future. We can, and should, bring this up every time our reputation is in question after this since we are unlikely to be believed by anyone who is not allied with us. Just insist that we worship the allmighty dollar, and the way to our support is through your coffers.

Here is where we are going to have an option. We can choose to side once again with ND, or we can choose to ally with Legoland.

Legoland alliance: We need to contact them NOW about this (or as soon as we get their map and see their position). We need to agree to a full game alliance with them now, and perhaps inform them of an upcomming war on our continent though not tell them which side we have chosen. In this strategy, we inform them of the impending ND fleet to arrive on their shores, and arrange for a combined attack back on Bob. Our boats will follow the plan, but remain empty to give ND the appearance that we are in this war with them. Possible benefits of this alliance is the worker trade as propsed in the other thread, and possibly the splitting of wonders via a similar warrior deal creating leaders like the one we are working up with ND currently, and techs from their "builder" set-up which would likely include a democracy set up. Potential problems include them leaking info to the other teams, them going for culture win, and the other teams taking advantage of our fight on Bob. Potential ways to remove these threats would be to include one or more of the other teams in the deal against ND, limited, false, or test info given to Lego to discern their honesty, and a possible backup plan with one or more of the other teams if it begins to come to a Culture win (which should become obvious once the wonders start being built).

Continued ND alliance: We simply invade Legoland with them and split is up as agreed to beforehand. Threats presented here include ND stabbing us in the back, the other teams now sure of a permanent alliance between our two teams, and what would become the final struggle between us for a conquest victory. Ways to prevent these threats include not exposing our back to them, and being prepared, bringing in the other teams seperately on the war with Legoland, and simply winning that final struggle with the weight of all the members from the remaining teams joining our ranks.

    Good comments UnOrthOdOx,

I am not sure where I stand on the Lego issue just yet...but I agree with you regarding RP.

An assumption made however (by myself as well), that we are controlling the game and will pick and choose our wars and allies as needed. Am I the only one who fears that war may soon be made upon us ?

Surely Vox & GS have been building troops...we have assumed that they were going to war with each other, but they seem to have closer relations than they are letting on. I have asked Zeit from GS straight up and he have ignored any request for political information.

Out of every teams UU's who's is the most fearsome ? The Chinese Rider of course with their 3 movement. This is closely followed by the Arab UU. If I was any of the other teams...and especially RP...I would be forging alliances now and preparing to attack before we get our UU's

The other point I would like to mention, is that Togas was quite critical of the fact that Trip tried to arrange alliances way too late in the game. He has emphasised the point that alliances must be made early.
After reading this, I am wondering if we are receiving any communication from RP regarding alliances ? If not, then perhaps we should assume he working on some other angle with another team ?

Any thoughts ? Or should I just repost this to the conspiracy thread ?
