  • Roleplay tries to Salvage their Reputation.

After Togas spoke to me in the chatroom, he approached me not I him, he specifically told me the following:

They "wouldn't trade us Writing for Horseback Riding because they were trading Writing to Lux Invicta for Horseback Riding."

That "we could not explore any farther south than we had gone already because they claimed all that territory for their own and our being there was a borderline act of war against them."

Previously they had agreed to trade us Writing for Horseback Riding.

Yesterday, I was talking to Trip and told him that Roleplay had broken a tech agreement with us and that we had previously agreed to trade them Horseback Riding for Writing and then they informed us they would break the treaty.

This morning I sent Borc a reply to the save game and told him the same thing.

THE ONLY THING I TOLD THEM WAS THAT ROLEPLAY HAD AGREED TO TRADE US WRITING FOR HORSEBACK RIDING AND HAD JUST BACKED OUT OF THE DEAL.

Trip was not amused that Roleplay had broken the agreement and would not confirm or deny that Lux had been approached by Roleplay to trade them Horseback Riding after they had acquired it from us.

When I sent the save on to Roleplay I included the following message:
    Here's the save.

I am suprised that you chose to break the tech trade agreement we had made to trade Horseback Riding for Writing but I would rather find out your team is untrustworthy now than later.
Mind you I send the save to Togas, Dejon, and Arnelos as I prefer to have three people get the message so one person can't simply distort what was said.

Here's the response I got back from Togas:
Why are you such an ******* sometimes? I tell you, "I feel
    uncomfortable trading
with you while you're in our territory" and you reply "You're breaking
    our trade
agreement." I'm tired of you trying to bully me around and threating
    me. From
now on don't send any personal remarks in your emails and I won't send
    any back.
We'll only deal through PMs and we'll only have our ambassadors deal
    with each
    other.

You are the ONLY nation that threatens us, cajoles us, and makes
    statements like
we're untrustworthy. Why??? What are you trying to acomplish? Do you
    care more
about mapping out our territory ... territory you're not even next to
    ... than
how it affects us? Do you have to fight us and threaten us on every
    issue?

    --Tom
You have all seen all of the messages we sent and received and we never theatened them. I suggested we might do so but we never did it. We simply told them we were disappointed in them breaking the treaty.

I agree that any message sent to Roleplay should be by PM through Panzer32 to adaMada and the team should approve of the wording as Roleplay reads far too much into things.

Unfortunately, adaMada had agreed to the tech trade and Togas wasn't going through with it so nothing we agree to through adaMada can be banked on.

Togas tried to start a war over one word in Panzer32's pm and accuses me of trying to start a war over a simple statement that they are untrustworthy for backing out of an agreed to deal.

I have a feeling that Lux and ND became more wary of deals with them after I told them of Roleplay's treaty breaking. I know that Trip said Roleplay was trying to get them to give them something in advace for Writing in the future which our info may have nixed in the bud.

We must be very careful with Roleplay as they continually plotting and tried to use the other 3 civs against one another.

Trip told me that Lux will soon have 5 chariots and they are preparing to fight ND. How they can have 5 chariots when they just now founded a city next to the Horse resource and haven't connected it yet I don't know. They may have exaggerated a little.

Either Lux is greatly exagerating or they are lying. They might not be going to war at all (trying to manipulate us into going to war with NDG).

I agree, Roleplay seems very high-strung. I think their roleplaying nature lets them look at words too much, and they see too much in PMs content.

General foreign affairs observation: we seem to be slowly allying with lux against neu demogyptica and Roleplay.

I agree, Panzer. Especially in the RP case. IMO, they are the worst threat of all the teams. And, with all those lawyers ( ), they have an aggressive external policy... Seem like we are their first target.

Anyway, we don't have the necessary military to fight any war right now. So, our diplomacy needs to be more... soft and subtle.

The teams seem to all get along fine, except for Roleplay.

My observation is they haven't quite grasped that they are playing against human teams. They are treating everyone as if they are the only human team and we are AI teams, they claim all of this territory for themselves and cannot conceive that the rest of us see right through their subterfuge.

We can use this in our favor...
But at this point we need to avoid premature conflicts. If someone can break a trade, can breake a treaty.
