cannot be trusted, though. What sort of land deal was broken? Are all

you "northern" nations going to work out a settlement deal or will it
devolve
into war?

as Borc already told you, we are currently discussing your proposal of a "quad-pact" (which would be a "trio-pact" without Spain). At the moment we are researching Iron Working just like the Ottomans, that's why it's not possible to start a trio-pact at this moment anyway.

Nevertheless we are happy to inform you that our wisemen have recently researched the secrets of the Alphabet and we would like to share them with our friends. As we consider this technology to be quiet valuable - it is the first step to the Great Library - we think that 50 pieces of gold (or 3 gold/round) would be a fair price.

We do want to get GLib as soon as possible, although 3gpt is rather steep... we would have to cut back on our own science to compensate. I guess we don't have any techs that they don't have. I think that we might be able to get a better deal for alphabet later. (roleplay?)

Roleplay is pretty much a sure thing for Alphabet in 2-4 turns and they seem to be a lock to trade Writing for Horseback Riding. We need to ensure we trade them for Literacy immediately after and have a city stockpiling shields through the Palace method so we can get the Great Library.

Not anymore. We may have to buy Alphabet after this whole tech trade fiasco that happened recently.
