  • Our Gameplay Strategy and First Turns

One: We need to determine how we are going to hadle the first couple of turns. I think it is safe to say that there will probably be a "Hot Day" where the teams will take turns running through their turns and passing it on so that we can run through the first turns quickly.

I believe if this is the case that we should have a turnchat so that everyone possible can load the save and make observations and comments. Then the leader will play the turn and pass it on.

    Personal ideas for strategy:

    Two types of cities:
Castles-these are cities we consider to be permanent and will keep.

Forts-these are temporary cities that we found initially to allow ourselves to expand quickly and build faster. As our game progresses these will be abandoned as worker/settler farms to clear space for the Castles to grow larger.

If possible we should locate one of our original cities near food bonus tile(s) to allow for faster availability of workers and settlers and another early city (not the capital) be reserved for Wonder construction. This Wonder Castle can work on a Palace if a Wonder is not available and thereby stockpile shields.

Initial unit should be warriors who will go forth and scout and serve as defense and military police until barracks are built. Once barraks are available those cities will be construction of our first military force so that it will be sizeable when the time comes.

I strongly believe we should try to get to horsemen as soon as possible so that we can shift most military production to them. They move faster and will upgrade to our UU.

    Any comments/suggestions?

I think, during our first turns, we should found our capitol.

Seriously, we should get horsemen quickly, unless we are in a terrain that has almost no chance of horses. In that case, get swordsman in order to conquor the places that would have horses.

      yes. terrain based research patterns.

i say go for bronze first though.

build a few warriors to get a feel for the land. the exact # varies on profuction / growth.

there are too many variables concerning the start of a game

i'd like to see the map before we totally commit to one strategy, though i'd like to see the number of forts kept to a minimum, one maybe two settler worker factories but that's probably about all we'll need imo
