since we cant GIVE them a military (no unit trades) we could say "we'll fight this war for these techs and 20 gold per turn".

be wary though, if they break the deal (even peacefully, like after a set # of turns) we may still be at war with the other civ.

we should watch out for people trying to mess us up. maybe we should take upfront "down payments"

Actually, part of my reasoning was to become typecast that way. I want the other players to view us as Mercenanaries and less as another team.

Exactly, so much upfront, so much per turn, and these are the spoils we want for ourselves.

If any civ backed out we simply declare peace ourselves. The idea is to foster the concept that we aren't fighting you because we want to take you out we are fighting you because our employer wants to take you out. Nothing personal, its strictly business.

Take out our employer and we will stop too.

If this strategy is the consensus we should start letting it be known to the outsiders.

well GF, why not :P lol!!! still wouldn't be very honourable, really.. but if you're on it im with ya.. i guess.. depends.. GoW isn't very big team in numbers.. so it would be way to small if we split in two, not? but i dont really know.. if you guys are going for it i guess u'll have my support but personal i think we should stay put.. the idea isn't a very bad one tho..

Lets do it. Will be fun, will (potentially) take attention away from us, and could prove quite profitable.

I can just see some member of the RolePlaying team paying us to pillage another member's holdings...

I can start some 'adds' in public, and in my sig...

          let's see:

"Need help kicking Trip's ass? Want to maintain your 'builder' identity while crushing your enemies?

Glory of War has your answer! Our mercenaries will lay waste to any opponent at any time...for a price. Contact any member to get the latest pricing deals, mention this add and get 10% off the first city captured!!!"

You sure your not a writter? This actually sounds like a neat idea. And with more teams joining, more plausable.

Do we need the money in the early game? After we get the 4 ancient military techs we should start thinking PRODUCTION. We can coast technologically for a while, and wait for the costs of technology to go down, then get back in the tech game with our large empire.
