We have the save. Moving a rider from Port Isolation along the road, we can see 9 GS galleys. I sincerely reccommend moving him SW to scout the mountain, to see if they are dropping off or picking up. We can move the rider back to Port Isolation if need be with his other moves.

        Options for south

I looked at the save and did the recon. There are NO GS troops up north.

Now to the south. Here are our movement options for this turn.

This option is safetest, since we can send catapults. Also it has the advantage that, unless GS does a recon or moves by the hill, they won't see us. also this allows us to build the road to the hills. This way our forces can retreat safetly if things go wrong near barcelona. The downside is that we are on desert and even with 3.75 defense or still at a disadvanatage(48%). However, we can get catapults there to protect us.

This option has the advantage of putting us on a hill, that gives us(with the roads) the option of attacking Barcelona next turn. However, it does tell GS "we are coming" and any troops that are east of barcelona can run to either the city or hills around it. Thus atatck on it is more difficult. However, with this hill held, it is safe to build a road on the desert and thus insure retreat and resupply ability.

This is the "daring option". with this we WILL be vulnerable to counterattack, but WILL be guarenteed an attack option on barcelona next turn. Additionaly we will insure that NO forces that are east of us, can retrun to safety. Depending on if the hill to the w has gs troops or not, this could also protect our worker building a road.

Of course we could alwats wait until next turn, but that would only increase the riders by 2. But several of those would be Elite.

I am currently leaning towards the daring option as it might draw GS's fleet and reinforcements to the south and not our northern homeland.

How much would it cost for some recon from Vox?

For which area. The problem is that GS plays after vox so we have no idea what happens after that.

Here is the plan for the the nxt 2 turns with"daring: option3.

Barcelona would cut off all connection they have with the GS mainland wouldn't it?

                  Lets be daring

There have been enough hints (including from trip) that GS are on the run.

I never hinted at anything, all I said is you're doing well because you killed 4x your losses.

For the record, I had already decided to go get em. We had destoyed 19 knights+ many mi/Pikes a few tturns ok. Also with the ships thye have up north thta means their resupply of troops is slowed down to a trickle. The only logical response is too attack, they question is"where". I lean toward option 3.

                            The Situation

Ok, I proceeded to play the turn, feeling luck, going with the "Daring Planâ„¢". But alas, a few surprises presented themselves. First of all, the map:

As you can see, there are 5 total GS stacks in the are, two of them mildly significant. However, I noticed there is a flaw in Aggie's plan, in that we can't move all 18 riders into the desert tile, only 11, since the other 7 are too far away to reach there on time (the ones on the mointains near Alamo).

Now, GS has a total of 8 offensive units which are in range of our scout (actually 15 but the 6 on the mountain can't make it, neither can the MI on the saltpeter). The most surprising thing are the two settlers which are just to the west of barcelona, and we all know those are going...

So, we're in a bit of a problem. On one hand, GS does not have enough units to be a threat, BUT I would much rather kill them off before they found cities, or before reinforcemetns arrive, hence this turn will be rather important and we must establish ourselves in a good position.

IMO we should think of the following:

We continue with the "Daring Plan" and move 11 riders on the desert tile. However, the question remains on what to do with the remaining 7 riders. We can:

                            1) move them to the plain 4-7 from the saltpeter, send in the workers to make the road, and move our cats. it's 7 vs 8 offensive units should they choose to attack that stack. The benefit is that we can get the road done, but the downside is that GS can cosolidate on the hill 7 from the saltpeter (the one with the blue star) since they can move their 6 knights from the mountain there.

                            2) move them on the hill 7 from the saltpeter. Here we could be subjected to attack by 14 units. Not wise IMO.

                            3) move them on the hill 4 from the saltpeter. Their 8 units below can attack but we are on a hill.

                            4) we can move ALL our units (17) on that same hill. This is the safest option but the problem is that there is absolutely no way to cut transit from the 2 settlers, or for GS units to retreat towards Barcelona. The 11 riders on the desert tile, despite the fact they may suffer heavy casualties are at least delaying this from happening. However, with too many casualites it will be hard to follow up on any plan.

btw, only plan 1 allows us to safely move the workers and cats into position.

So, what do you guys think? The only move made so far is the scout. Please discuss before we play the turn.

They cant settle next turn right ?

Maybe we let everyone heal, and make this move next turn ?
Build the road, and have an all out assault with ND's help ?

We dont know how many units they have in Barcelona.
I am suddenly getting very nervous about the daring plan.
