  • Defending Against GS

OK so GS is in the north. What's our best strategy to defend against them? Aggie and I in chat had different opinions:

    ...
[Aggiemowa] by the way lego will concentrate their knights and then attack,
[Aggiemowa] They will also send a "stern"letter to gs to try to persuade them to stop
    [Panzer32]
[Aggiemowa] the only danger GS poses is if they move n or ne onto those hill and put themselves ina postion to attack both yellowknife and Port ISolation
[Panzer32] they can't get PI from there
[Panzer32] its too for for 2 moves
[Panzer32] only 1 hill can they attack both cities
[Aggiemowa] no but the following turn the could move to that hill e,ne of YK
    [Aggiemowa] xpost
[Aggiemowa] if that happens we can split our forces, put 9 riders in PI and the rest_some pikes in YK
[Panzer32] actually if they move n or ne this turn we should attack them on the hills
[Panzer32] I really think we should do that instead of letting them get one of those cities, which is what we do if we split our forces
[Aggiemowa] well we can split the forces and prevent that. I just would rather draw them into a battle at yellowknife of Pi then counteratatck
[Aggiemowa] remember we have 9 lego knights coming in too
[Aggiemowa] our total # right now are 16riders+6 pike
[Panzer32] see the thing is we can attack them than retreat back into the cities
[Panzer32] we get the best of both worlds
[Panzer32] and they can't heal in our land
[Aggiemowa] but the problem is we'd be attacking at worst odds than on defense and our 1st 4 atatck would be on their pikes
[Aggiemowa] and the hills are out of our territory
[Panzer32] so? pikes defense = knight defense
    [Panzer32] oh right...
    [Aggiemowa] i just noticed
[Panzer32] but still, they can only heal 1 per turn
[Aggiemowa] I rather get them to atack and attack on the open, the same turn roughly the lego forces can come up from the sw
[Panzer32] also with us retreating I think its worth it
[Panzer32] We can't let them attack; they would take the city
[Aggiemowa] we can put 10 in 0ne city+12 in the other(PI)
[Aggiemowa] this way some of the inital atatck is on pike and that gives us a counteratatck option
[Panzer32] the problem is they could go for other cities too
[Panzer32] then we are stuck and we have to die in those cities
[Panzer32] we should have a thread discussion about this
[Aggiemowa] if they do that, they will take more time and Lego will be right on their heals
[Aggiemowa] let me start a thread
[Panzer32] do you want me to start a thread with this conversation pasted in it
[Panzer32] go ahead if you want
[Panzer32] just make sure to post what we've said
[Aggiemowa] why don't you do it then
    [Panzer32] k
So should we try and attack them with Riders before they hit our cities or do you think our best defense is at the city gates?

We can fight with all methods available to us.

    1. Get Lego involved. Screw the stern letter...Get Lego to tell them to keep the fighting to the South or they will declare war. Enough threats. We need the promised action from Lego.

And screw Lego consolidating their forces. Send at least 1 knight now. As soon as GS sees it, they will take Lego a hell of lot more seriously. And GS won’t attack it. If they do, then GS will experience war weariness…something they have desperately tried to avoid.

    2. Militarily, when in defense, I like playing the odds. Let them attack us. They don’t have 3 movement units, and unless they want to leave their Pikes behind, they have to move 1 tile/turn.
GS did superbly well against Vox by hiding in cities, playing the odds. We can learn from that, and do the same.

    3. Diplomatically. send in Unotho or MZ to quietly cave in. Tell GS we are screwed. What do they want ? What do we have to do to get them to leave our North ?
Warn ND & Lego, that we are going to d!ck around with GS and see what plans they offer for us to switch sides and attack.
Maybe GS will believe us, and stop their advance on the next turn.
We do this only to buy time.

    4. We can always publicly attack their teams honor code again. Maybe whoever is left in their team will also leave, and they will have no choice but to retire.
ie Unleash more GengisFarb anti-sociable behavior.

    5. As a last resort, if we can’t defend a city, we can always gift it to Lego.
Again, we use their tactics against them. Most likely they will take the undefended city, but it means they will have to declare war on Lego. Lego will get a production boost, and GS will start to experience war weariness. Again, we are using the same tactics they used against us. And GS may not want to bring Lego into the war or experience war weariness.

was going to post this a day ago but apolyton went down when i was writing the message, anyways:

logically GS will move n next turn. then they will be in striking range from YK, and not from PI.. their knights only got 2 movement.. so i suggest mass defence in YK

if they dont attack YK on the next turn and instead move somewhere else they will either have to leave their pikes behind or stay on a plain which will leave them wounerably to attacks either way.

so they will therefore move n, and then attack YK while moving their pikes n to cover surriving knights from counter attacks.

ofcourse they can move into the forest instead of attacking, but that will only give us more time to assemble defence and give lego time to get there with their knights.

still we must watch the squares around PI so they dont land some more knights for a quick assault on PI.

and are the enough workers to get into YK and boost it to size 7???

not for a few turns will it get there... but if GS doesn't attack in 2 or so turns, then I guess we could use the settler there.
