  • City Placement

I guess one of the recent hot topics has been our city placement.

In the chat I had last week with GF, he thought:

Anyang should move 1 tile west, so as to give Imperial City more room and also to get access to the whale tile.

Tatung to move South West 1 tile to give Trafalgar and The Hill more room.

Macao to move 1 tile west to give Dreadnaughtica & Skullgaria more room, and not waste tiles.

My opinion, is that he is probably right. I voted for the current positions and now that I have drawn the map myself (instead of peering into a dud monitor from work), I think I was wrong.

However, I think we may have to live with it, and keep the current positions. To disband all three cities is a terrible waste.

The only city I would consider, is Macao. 1 tile west looks more sensible. We should discuss if we want to disband and move Macao. (And any of the other cities)

Also.. do we have plans to settle on the coast NE of Imperial City ? If so, it should happen before our GA.

I'm a tight city spacer at heart.

I personally prefer Anyang where it is. Less corruption.

Tatung could have been on the hill, but it is not a big loss at present. It will hurt us in the long run.

    Macao should move IMO

And we should settle to the north of Imperial City, on that forest next to the hill.

Have we discussed our GA much yet? We are in desperate need of temples, markets, courts and workers...

I'm also a tight-spacer myself in Multi-Player (3-tile all the way baby!) so frankly I don't see the problem of overlapping tiles especially since no city will reach its potential until Sanitation and that's still far aways off...

So frankly, I don't see the positions to be all that bad, and would strongly advise against disbanding them and re-settling them. That is a big no-no.

        MZ,

Being a tight spacer like myself, woudln't you say it would be MORE advantageous for us to actually plop another city BETWEEN the Hill and Macao than it is to MOVE macao?

For defensive purposes, a group of Riders/Cavalry in such a city would be able to reach any city along the entire boarder with ND in one turn with a proper road network...

Even if it is just used as a camp, with only a barracks, it could be quite usefull....An extra Rider every 10 turns or better isn't a bad thing...

Yes, definitely. A city say, two tiles west of Macao can serve this purpose splendidly. We should at least have 3 military camps, preferably 4 so we can concentrate on building in our main cities but crank out a good amount of units without interrupting this process.

These were brought up in the Long term Internal affairs discussion thread, and I believe those cities are the best for us. City #2 would be the location of the forbidden palace.

Also add the city North of Imperial city on the HILL, so we have another grassland (the forest) to work.
