They did indeed seem to fall for our ruse and believe that it was not Vox who hired us. Whether they think it is RP or Lego, who cares? Not our problem.

Reguarding the 4 additional units, they were understandibly not thrilled on the concept, perhaps the true feelings only comming to pass at the very end in perhaps the only tense moment. I could have pressed further, I know NYE well enough I could have pushed him possibly into saying more than he wanted, but figured it is better at this point to stay nice for future dealings. Bottom line. They will sink our ships if they see them, and would like to know our movements of these units. They might even avoid them for us, this was left to be dealt with via PM's. I may need a little assistance with this over the next few turns, needing to discuss this for every turn.

Reseach:

Assured them of the deal for Chivalry, further drove home the 'other' team getting angry with us for not refusing to deal with them.

GS is in the dark ATM with research. Might go for Engineering and honor deals that Vox previously made, or at least discount it. This was left for future discussion due to time and it not being available for 15 turns or so to begin with.

Leaving the island is the only choice.

Seemed open to the Lego possibility, but seems to want lego's opinion first. Also there is dissent with some wanting to simply destroy them.

Weren't able to bring up the maps comfortably here.

IMO, they were dodging the questions here.

Gut feeling is they know of our alliance with ND. They were also non commital about who to support if war breaks out.

Said they would not attack bob without an 'invitation' and said they do not have one yet.

Possibilities of support, or neutrality were left for PM's. Proposed a NAP to take place after our contract of 4 units is met. This caused some tension, and I showed restraint not pushing for NYE to lose his cool (a good way to get info out of him FYI) in the interest of future discussions.

That's the cliff notes version in case you do not feel like reading through what was mostly an hour or two of what seemed like only me typing at times.

Agreed to begin regular chats (every two weeks or so). Do I smell alliance? too early to tell ATM.

Anyway, I would like to apologize for not being able to make it, as I had said it was a friend's thesis presentation yesterday afternoon and after we wen to dinner and then hit the nightclubs. It is almost 5 am over here and I just got home about 15 minutes ago (and yes, I am not particularly sober)

Oh well, got some chicks digits so it was worth it!

Anyway, I think this is the climax of me being busy, I hope to attend all further chats with GS. In the meantime, I'd just like to say good job to all of you which attended

I see there are points which were left unresolved. I hope we can set up another chat say next week. If not, I will try and catch nye in the ISDG chatroom one of these days and try and extort some consessions from him (diplomatically of course ).

The only things left unresolved were issues for which GS needs the entire team.

NYE will not agree to anything without their aproval. It might even annoy him being asked again. We should take it slow, by their pace, IMO.

My primary goal at this last chat was to lay down some common ground so that GS would see us as their greatest potential ally and view our team as the one who they had most in common with.

I think we rank higher in those areas than Lego or Roleplay right now, but did not get a firm feel for what GS and ND's relation level is.

I did not get any confidence that if we traded them Chiv, that it would not be resold to RP.

My suggestion ...

We contact ND, and tell them. Ask them to use their contacts within GS to see if they will resell to GS.

Tell ND to say to GS, that they are going to war with RP. ND tells GS that they know that GS get Chiv. ND asks for assurance that GS wont resell to RP.

If ND says cant be done...then we know there is not a strong alliance.
If ND says no probs...then ND does have a strong relationship.

If we cant get assurance that GS wont resell to RP, then we must decide...
1. Sell to RP, drain some gold from them, and keep them unaware that we are going to war.
2. Pay off GS with gold, for a no-resell clause.

I think I am doing a pretty good job of keeping RP from knowing our intentions. I am currently in negotiations with Togas and GodKing for RP to give me sanctuary when I lose the Emperor election.

Just read the chat log, I think it went pretty well. I would like to keep on "cultivating" this friendship, perhaps eventually serving as a bulwark against ND in the future...

Im glad you think so.

I had to bite my tongue a few times here or there, but other than that it was pretty pleasant.
