Gentlemen,
I wish to open up a designated thread to discuss the possibility of switching our alliances from Vox to GS.
I have brought this up a few times before, and I do believe we need considerable more discussion on the topic. Plus, I believe that we will need to make a decision before GS sees our mercenaries.
My reasons for bringing up this change, are:
Vox is not winning and wont win their war against GS
GS have hunkered down, and even with our 100% support and riders, it will be difficult to dislodge them. The problem of upgrading and transporting Riders to their continent by galley (2per turn) make it a logistical nightmare.
Even if we could offer our 100% support, we are not providing it, and are in fact turning our attentions to RolePlay.
As far as we know, RolePlay is Vox's only other ally who has agreed to send troops.
Vox is alone, and does not have the economy to finish GS off.
When they realise this, (probably the turn we declare war of Roleplay), they will do everything in their power to exit the war.
If GS allows them, Vox will be seeking to expand and take revenge elsewhere.
GoW would be their likely target, as we are their next closest neighbour, we will have our entire army in the deep South, we "screwed" them on the Engineering tech deal, we have not supported them in the war, and have attacked their only ally.
I see this as the most likely outcome as soon as we attack Roleplay.
I have been told by Beta that they have had some one-on-one discussions with GS , and he doubts they will allow peace under any circumstances.
This is good news, because it means Vox will be destroyed, and can not turn on us.
But I also see this as bad news, because it also means Vox has been discussing peace.
It is my opinion that I would rather have GS as a friend (to be backstabbed later with ND's help) than an enemy.
Therefore, the plan would require..
We immediately contact GS for a chat.
Within this chat, we provide the following information.
Vox has negotiated alliances with every other team against GS.
GoW have an mercenary arrangement only for a set number of units....we are not an ally.
GoW have been receiving heat from the Vox alliance to not sell GS Chivalry
We have been receiving intelligence, that GS have been encouraging Vox to attack GoW through one-on-one meetings. - this must stop.
The GoW still plans to sell GS Chivalry under the following conditions..
GS does not share with any team how they got Chivalry...(GoW will claim that GS must of researched it themselves)
GoW wants Leonardo's Workshop..GS must agree not to build it.
The GoW and GS agree to a NAP for 30 turns...excluding the mercenaries that were sold to Vox under contract.
I suggest we also ask if they have any MPP's that we may need to know about.
For example... we can tell them that we would see it unfavourably if they attacked RP any time in the next 20 turns or so.
We can then ask...would they see any action we take against any other team in an unfavourable light ?
The above again encourages the fact, that we going to attack ND...and we may get a little heads up if GS are aligned with anyone....(God help us if they have a MPP with RP)
In fact...I would not be opposed to speak to Lego using the same ruse above....just to see if Lego has a MPP with RP.
The alternative - Do nothing and hope Vox can hang on.
It does make me very uncomfortable with the fact, that GS would gain complete control over their continent.
It certainly means GS will be even more difficult to remove from the game.
An alternative is.. to go along with the current plans and not sell GS Chivalry.
In this scenario, we must hope that Vox does not declare peace, and can withstand the GS offensive.,
They must last ...without military help from any other team...until we kill RP, and then we can come to their aid.
I suspect, that GS may have muskets and even researched Chivalry themselves by then...even making it harder for our Riders.
Gentlemen... please discuss.
I believe we may need to make a decision sooner rather than later.
Perhaps before GS get to see our mercenaries.
And if we can believe the main board... GS may have already started their offensive...albeit in a pillaging only capacity.
