In case anyone's interested, war has broken out in the Euro-PBEM game. One of my galleys was attacked and sunk by the evil Arabs (Alex), and China (DeepO) refused to let me through to exact my rightful revenge. The question is, are my Egyptians big enough and powerful enough to take on two enemies more or less at once? DeepO and I are posting at least some information about our fighting in the turn thread, if anyone's interested in watching.

Don't be sweet talked into believing I'm the oppressor here Sure, I choose to defend ground my spears were on for over a thousand years instead of giving into threats (it's my role), but that's not the whole picture. Looking at what Nathan brought with him, it's obvious that he has been planning an invasion for quite a long time, this is no defense force he is bringing.
It's quite obvious that if Alex didn't attack his galley, and gave Nathan a reason to seek revenge, Nathan would have used that force to invade me anyway. In that case, I would have needed to worry about Alex too, which meant conquering the GoW would have been faster. I may have hastened war between myself and Nathan, but the end result would have been the same. I was hoping that my move (actually, not moving as asked for) meant Nathan was less prepared, but I was wrong in my assessment.
BTW, a lot still needs to be said on this game, but I can't disclose everything right now, and I'm sure the others feel the same. After game, I hope more things become clear, and I'm certainly waiting to ask for suggestions on how to resolve my situation. I find it very interesting
