Dear team-mates,
Something has been bothering me for a while now and I'd like to speak up about it.
For the record I'd like to say that I consider comments about other teams being "idiots" and that they "suck" at this game to betray an unattractive, and frankly contemptible, arrogance. I've been seeing far more of these comments recently.
On behalf of everyone who doesn't meet the high standards of skill that some on this team consider themselves to have, I'd like to suggest that a little more respect be shown to our competitors. Also that, if you really feel the need to insult them, you at least have the courage to say it to their faces rather than laughing and sneering at them behind their backs in a private forum.
Some of you may feel that my criticisms are unjustified, and I certainly don't mean it to apply to everybody. However, I have perceived a worrying trend towards this kind of thing recently and felt that it would only be honest of me to speak up out of a genuine desire for this game to played in the best possible spirit.
Thank you for your time.
Stuart
PS. I'd like to congratulate all the people who have put more effort into this team than me (which is almost everyone) for the good work they have done. I'm constantly impressed by the detail into which each move is analysed and only wish I had the knowledge to contribute more to tactical discussions.
PPS. Perhaps I've been guilty myself of the very things I criticise in this letter, in which case the contents apply equally to me as they do to anyone else.
