  • Turn 75, 1150 BC

To be edited by the leaders of the Scholia.

    Status:
    - Researching Republic at 100%, ready in 11 turns.
    - 314 gold cash, +1 gpt (thanks to our 5gpt from ND).

    Urgent questions:

    Military:
    - Settler moves 4-8-9

    Economy:
    - EotS finishes worker, starts settler. Needs to work three flood plains, an irrigated fur, and our recently mined grassland by EotS.
    - Hurricane grows. Should be working three irrigated furs, an irrigated plains, and a mined grassland.
    - Worker by Tornado finishes roading, moves 1 to start improving a tile for use by our souternmost city.
    - Worker by Typhoon finishes road, moves 6 to our remaining grassland with shield.

    Diplomacy:

    Thread library:
    - Standing orders for workers

I don't know what Vox is researching now, but unless it's Monarchy, they're wasting their time. IMHO we should tell them that we have arrangements to get Construction and Currency, and that they should not waste their efforts on researching any of these techs themselves. Of course we must not explicitly say that Lego got Construction, because we swore to secrecy on that matter.
Their choices are to either research Monarchy, or research nothing and stockpile gold. I would prefer if they research Monarchy, because:
    1. It has some trading potential. It could be used in a tech for gold trade, or to balance a tech trade in the mid age.
    2. IMHO we don't want Vox to be stockpiling gold, especially now that they have access to iron.

      Score information:

      140 (+3) Gathering Storm
      148 (+3) Demogyptica
      122 (+2) Glory of War
      153 (+?) Role Play
      107 (+1) Vox Controli
      158 (+2) Legoland

No complications, except that I lack an order for the new worker in EotS. I think I'll move him at a plains tile at this side of the river. The other worker near EotS will finish road this turn and can move to road the remaining fur tile next turn.

Our military is average compared to Vox and weak compared to everyone else, including Legoland.

Shiber, you're right on Vox... but don't tell we've got a deal, only we've got a good shot at getting it

Also, we should start on thiking how to end the deal with Vox, this is getting way too complicated...

Further, maybe it would be best to get our relations with ND going again, we could try to sell them construction and currency... maybe even polytheism

Good idea. Let's start working on what we'll call a "Get out of the ancient age package", which would include Construction, Currency and Polytheism (but not Republic, of course). I suggest that we ask them which of these techs they would be interested in buying for gold.
              Suggested prices: Polytheism - 70 gold. Currency - 90 gold. Construction - 110 gold.

Workers count as military units in these comparisons, right?
Since Vox has mostly land that is not fitted for growth, and therefore must have relatively few workers, and since they are still average compared to us, it means that they have more military units than we do. Luckily, the barracks in Tornado will go online soon, and the one in Bolderberg is already producing.

I don't think so. They used to a while back, but I believe it was patched out of the game. Now only combat units count towards military strength IIRC.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

Damned, I recently saw a thread about this very subject, IIRC wokers get the same power influence as warriors.
I'll see if I can dig ti up...
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
