  • Turn 74, 1175 BC

To be edited by the leaders of the Scholia.

    Status:
    - Researching Republic at 100%, ready in 13 turns.
    - 313 gold cash, +1 gpt (thanks to our 5gpt from ND).

    Urgent questions:
    - If anyone objects to building Aeson's hill city 8-9 from Tempest, let him speak in the next turn or two or forever hold his peace.

    Military:
    - Settler moves 8-7-8

    Economy:
    - Worker by EotS finishes road, moves 6-9.
    - If you want to be paranoid, verify that Cyclone's new laborer is on a mined shielded grassland.
    - Remaining workers should be covered by standing orders.
    - Move EotS's laborer from the irrigated regular plains to the newly mined grassland we finish roading this turn (so Hurricane's new laborer can have the irrigated plains).

    Diplomacy:

    Thread library:
    - Standing orders for workers

I wonder what they're researching now. Should we tell them to go for Monarchy, or otherwise not bother?

There's a chat with some nasty comments from GhengisFarb in the contact log. They seem to be pissed, because we tend to refuse all their deals, but seem to deal eagerly with Vox. Time for some diplomacy, I guess.

Perhaps we should come clean about having some sort of tech trading deal with Vox (w/o giving specifics)?

IMHO this would not be a good idea. Instead of telling GoW more of what they don't like to hear, and giving them more reasons to form a Bob-wide alliance against us, we should tell them what they do want to hear - that we would be very interested in acquiring Feudalism or another early Medieval tech from them. If we start negotiating over the Medieval techs right now, it would get their minds off of all the previous deals that we've refused.

I just read the chat log, and SR already essentially said what I was thinking, but better (gave less away) regarding having prior deals with Vox.

So yeah, I guess the next step would be to work up some medieval tech deals.
