Our number of workers is getting high enough that giving orders for every detail of each worker's operation is starting to get out of hand, and the situation will get far worse as time progresses. To cut down the hassle a bit, I'm going to set the following standing orders for workers so that with plains, flood plains, and grasslands, only movement orders will be needed in most cases. (There will, of course, be exceptions from time to time, which will be noted in the turn orders.)
Edit on April 5, 2003:
1) When a worker moves onto a new tile, he starts roading. (Exception: if more than one worker is on a tile, juggle the numbers to avoid wasting turns from having too many workers work on a road.)
2) After roads are finished, workers mine mountains or grasslands, or irrigate plains or flood plains.
