  • Do we want to hire ex-Lux members?

OK then, this is just a very informal poll to get the general trend of opinion of the team on this issue.

Exactly WHO we invite can be discussed in this thread if that's what people want to do.

If we do want to invite any of them to the team we should do it soon, otherwise we'll have missed our chance and another team will have snapped them up.

No, I don't think we should invite them. If they come to us, we'll decide whether we take them or not. If they don't come, fine.

I do think we should get at least one Luxian into GS, the ones going to others teams will more then likely inform them on our lands/deals (at leat what they know about it.)
Therefore getting some extra (correct) info on BoB is surely not going to hurt us.

btw: sorry SR, but I jumped the gun on the inviting part.
Well, not really, I merely asked Ixnay if he would be interested in joining GS.
I did explicitely told him my PM was NOT official, but that if he would be interested, there is a good chance that we would accept him.

I see the wisdom of Sir Ralph's viewpoint on this, but I would nevertheless like to see us invite one of them to the team.

BigFurryMonster: he would be a valuable member of the team IMHO - you can never have too many people with his dedication and hopefully he would lighten the load for some of our busier members.

Whatever you guys want to do, I guess.

I don't think I want any of them in the diplomatic corps (or the Spartan Academy, come to think of it), though!

BFM. I've been impressed by his methodologies in the ISDG... ask Dominae.

I like the idea of getting one of them, but otherwise side with SR that we should mostly just let this play out.

no real opinion on this one. The intelligence would be nice, but taking a member who saw the game from a different perspective for a few months might be good, but might be catastrophic as well...

But I agree with Arrian, no Luxian on the diplo corps. (Spartan academy... well... maybe we need to retreat in the far future, I'm sure the Luxians can learn us a few things about that.)

The map information a Lux player is going to give out is probably more useful to us than any other team. Our only real terrain 'secret' that they know is the placement of our second Iron source.

                    Voted yes

we need someone for the intel.

It may be the only way to get a map of bob until we invade.

we need to land one of them, now, before they all get away.

It seems most agree inviting Luxians is ok, so next question: who knows someone from ex-Lux, and wants to ask them? (I saw Alva already asked ixnay informally).

One thing though: I don't like the idea that we'll be taking a new member simply for the information they can give us, whoever wants to join has to uphold to the demands we ask on all new members: be active, be honorably, and be friendly. In other words an asset to the team apart from the information he brings us.

Is getting Lux's map of Bob from a former member of Lux even legal?

                          who knows.

I think yes, though this could conceivably lead to problems, like "we will give the governorship of portia in exchange for you joining the team" etc. bidding for the services. i doubt that for this game though.

                          I think its legal.

Ixnay responded by saying, that if permitted, he would very much like to join gs

Shall I make a "black/white ball" poll about him or wait awhile?

Maybe someone else can contact BFM? (and put up a poll)

A black/white poll seems reasonable. If anyone objects they can always vote Black - that's why we call this a Democracy game.
