  • Turn 66, 1375 BC

To be edited by the leaders of the Scholia.

    Status:
    - Research idling at 0% investment (technically on Philosophy).
    - 317 gold cash (including GoW's 100 surity), about +33 per turn.

    Urgent questions:
    - Need to finish resolving the Lux/Vox situation.

    Military:

    Economy:
    - EotS finishes worker, starts another worker.
    - Rearrange EotS and Hurricane laborers so EotS is working three FPs and an irrigated fur and Hurricane is working three irrigated furs and an irrigated plains (or mined grassland).
    - New worker in EotS moves 1-1-1. (Bolderberg is behind on improved tiles at the moment.)
    - Worker from Hurricane starts mining.
    - Worker on horse tile finished irrigation, starts road.
    - Worker by Tempest finished road, moves 2.
    - Move Bolderberg's laborer currently on the forest tile to the unimproved grassland.
    - Cyclone grows. It's new laborer probably needs moved from a forest to the shielded grassland we're currently mining.

    Diplomacy:
    - Still need to finish resolving the Vox/Lux situation.
    - May have some residual communications with GoW to take care of.
    - Do we want to go ahead and have Vox or Lux (if the latter is willing) give us Horseback Riding?
    - Probably need to go ahead and pass Literature on to Vox.

Certainly, I think it's time. Plus, if we get it now and not much later, when it is the last tech that is needed to enter the mid ages, it'll most likely fly below GoW's radar.
I'd recommend getting it from Vox, because they have to give it to us anyway, and once we gift them CoL and Lit, they'll feel obliged and morally unable to refuse. Asking Lux for HBR, or even telling them about this, is a bad idea IMHO, because:
    1. Lux may very well tell GoW, which in turn may become very upset (though quite unjustly, IMHO). That could significantly severe our relations with them.
    2. Lux would probably add more complications to our already complicated relations. IMHO, it's better that we just avoid them and ask Vox.

IMO we don't need HBR from Vox yet, but we could ask how long ago they got it, and if their NDA has ended already. By waiting until after literature and CoL (which we could offer them now, we've got all other parties covered), they will see it as a small gift towards us, instead of yet another tech they give withouth getting anything in return.

It just occurred to me... tech is FLYING. I expected it to be faster than a SP game and all, but WOW! It's 1375bc, for goodnesssake!

So many things available to build, so little time!

I guess it will slow down after the free (scientific) techs are traded once we hit the next era.

But yeah, the tech atm is fast
Ironically, thech being fast in SP was/is one the biggest issues with people, and now they are even worse

I expected it to be slower then SP.

What's most ironically to me is that normally faster tech means a disadvantage for me, while now, it is quite the contrary: when research gets faster, those with the best research are advantaged more.

Techs do fly- and i don't see things being slown down considerably, not even when wars erupt- teams will still research complementarily and trade- also in order to get things moving.

Indeed, as one of the tech leaders, achieved also with our profitable partnership with Vox, and our careful trading schemes, we can be optimistic- i think we should thank Vox for this, if it wasn't for them, we could have been in a situation only slightly better than Lego, WRT tech advance.

Do you remember that time when we feared this would be our fate, when Vox showen little or no trustworthiness? Things have considerably changed, although Vox can still be unexpected, at times...

How about if we engineer things so that in game, we're trading Vox Literature for Horseback Riding? That might help provide a little extra cover for our tech deal with Vox.

Fine by me... however doesn't Vox want lit sooner? And it still leaves the question of CoL, which we need to give to Vox anyway. We can't simply 'trade' lit+CoL for HBR, that would be silly...

I've already given Vox Code of Laws, at the same time I sent out the other offers.

                        I'm gettin' excited...

                        * That's a damn good looking empire we are building.
                        * We are pretty safe (for the moment).
                        * Research / gold is insane.

I would word it, "We need to examine our options for how we might win depending on how the game develops." Against AIs, you can pretty much predict what options will be available to you and what options will not down the road. Against human opponents, all you can do is analyze the possibilities and figure out how you'll handle them if they become reality.
