  • Sending PM's out when poll is launched ?

    Just a tought.

I am a member of totally different demogame in a different forum, and there it is the obligation of the person who posts a poll - to send PM's to every member of the demogame, so they are aware of the Polling and can come to give their vote. And so far - the people there have been polling very eagerly - nearly 100 % of the votes has been given in almost every poll.

Okay okay, you propably say with angry tone of voice that "If they dont notice the poll - why should they be informed"

I can say to that - i dont know, but atleast it would propably increase the amount of votes in our polls - not nearly all of us vote on them as i have noticed. More likely 50 %. Results might be totally different indeed if all of us voted.

How would such a requirement affect people's willingness to be the one to start a poll in the first place? There are what, in the neighborhood of 20 people on our team? That would make a rather monstrous buddy list to pick the GS members from using the "PM to buddies" mechanism (I also have some Voxians on my buddy list for when I send diplomatic messages to more than one of them), or a huge amount of hassle sending out a bunch of separate messages. (Actually, e-mail would probably be a much more convenient format for such an operation, at least for those of us whose e-mail systems support maintaining multiple mailing lists.)

Alas, we can't post PMs to more than 5 people at the same time, even with the buddy list. And IMHO, it's not too much for a member to check the team forum once or twice a day and to look for a poll. And if the member can't do this due to absence, he can't read his PMs either.
