  • Timing of the Golden Age

I thought I would start a thread on this, so as the topic would not get lost in the shuffle of the other threads. And while this thread may be premature, I think this is best discussed as a group.

When do we want to time the GA?*

There are discussions about going for the Great Library.
Would it be worth it to trigger the golden age (via help from vox) shortly after gaining republic, (with prebuild of course) to aid in this quest? How many cities will we have by the time we get republic, 6? 7? I know its not as efficient a time for the GA as we would like, but I think the rough parity in techs would be worth it.

GA: what I'm concerned, as fast we can get into another gov.

One comment: it won't do any good towards a GL build, as we have the choice, either go for literature ourselves, or go for the republic. If we follow the second path, it is way too risky to build the GL, so we have to choose: either literature and the GL, or republic without it.

Preferably after we've finished REXing and have built up a large population, so that we'll have as many citizens working in tiles as possible.
