  • DIPLO: do we want to trade contact information?

Okay, I just posted a message exploring what our neighbour thinks of this. Still, RPG is very possible to be the one who met Vox, and quite possible, Vox might have already mentioned to RPG that they have met us. So the question becomes: do we want to trade such information?

I think it would be a good idea, as we have little to lose at this moment, and can only gain insight in world politics and geographical situation.

    Discuss, please.

hmm, everyone we invite to meet us half way (even with galleys), will meet Vox first...

On the other hand do we have much choice?

Sending a boat beyond voxes borders would be a solution, still a long way of

Zeit proposed something similar and more extensive earlier in his "Operation Cocktail Party" thread. I suggest we go ahead with the full operation (although if someone wants to trade only contact information, that's fine).

The more Civs we have contact with the better, but what do you think Vox would want in exchange for giving us contact with their other neighbours?
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

We wouldn't be asking Vox, we would be asking everyone, especially RPG and everyone else who trades a minimap with us, and seem close.

BTW, this issue is far better argumented in the 'cocktail party' thread.

In-game contact can't come until Writing. By then, Vox may find itself in the interesting position of having the power to prevent contact or charge a high price for it if they so desire, but of having two civs rather unhappy with them if they do so. There's little telling how they might play such a situation. And of course if Vox lets us through or if the other civ has a land connection and can come to us, we may not need Vox as a middleman on the contact deal.
