  • Turn 22

    2950BC.

The northern Voxian warrior went 3 and blocks our way. It's named "Tim the Warrior". The southern Voxian warrior went 6, at the mountain. His name is "Willy the Wandering Warrior".

    My plans:

Grong moves in EotS. Ouch fortifies at the city site. Settler moves there too. Hurricane will be founded next turn. Hack and Slash proceed 8. Grog moves 9 and will go 8-4 next 2 turns. This way he'll explore the whole isthmus next 2 turns.

Worker crosses the river (should we name it somehow?) to the other floodplain. Both laborers in EotS are back on irrigated fur plains. Next turn, one of them will be moved to fur forest, to give the laborer in Hurricane an irrigated fur. EotS will grow in 2 turns. No food will be wasted. Since the new citizen will work in irrigated floodplains, EotS makes constantly 5 shields. The granary will be ready in 6 turns (2710BC). Hopefully we get Pottery in time. Right now, it needs 11 turns, and our economy is breaking even.

Turn will be done within the next hour.

Name proposal for the river. Since it goes through the "Eye of the Storm", its name could be "Flood of Tears". The desert valley between both mountain ranges could be the "Valley of Tears" then. The central mountain range looks like a broken backbone and could be named the "Spinebreaker Mountains". That outs me as "Ultima" fan .

So we're hoping that the new city and the pop up will decrease the research time to 6? Should be close, although we may lose a turn or so (this could be easily tested). I'm just trying to catch up a bit.

All the movements look good to me (for whatever value that is ).

How psyched are we that the one and almost certainly ONLY hut we popped gave us a settler? It just occurred to me that Vox will beat us to any northern huts, so it was one-and-done. *wow*

SR, are you doing screenies like NYE did? If so, can you send them directly to me (mishlea@msn.com)? I never figured out that whole GS mailbox thingy.

I composed a map after 3000bc and will resend it together with a new northern screenshot (no change in the south) and a new f11 to NYEs mailing list.

Btw, my post above contains a mistake: The granary will be done the turn after 2710BC.

I hope this doesn't make us look ripe for conquest in the eyes of Vox (their calculations may be simplier then our own)

They will look slightly different next turn
And they are the only ones with Lego not to have added a point(from the ones that settled on their first turn)

Has anyone tested to make absolutely certain we won't be slowing down our growth if we work both furs this turn? If not, we need to do that before we move. I'll run a quick test now.

Sir Ralph, how many food are we away from growing right now?

We are 3 food away. We're making 2 surplus, next turn only one, because we move one laborer on fur forest.

We could stay with one laborer on the floodplains, make 3 surplus and grow in 1 turn, but make only 3 shields this turn. Since next turn we move one laborer to forest and leave one on floodplains, we'll make 5 shields, 2 surplus.

If we move on furs now, we make 10 shields, grow to size 3 + 0 food. If not, we make 8 shields, grow to size 3 + 2 food. 2 shields or 2 food?

If we work one FP and one fur, we grow next turn and we get the shields from the new laborer. So we still get five shields. I've tested it on the test scenario numerous times.

Ok, I leave it on floodplains then. I hope the citizen will be auto-set on the right tile. It should, because the other floodplain is not yet irrigated.

By the way, at least under most circumstances, you do NOT get to keep left-over food when a city grows. There have been times when I've had the feeling that I got to keep left-over food, but I don't remember ever having it happen when I was watching carefully.
