  • Diplomacy Schola: operation Cocktail Party

The current situation, regarding us and the Voxians is:

1)They posses the ceremonial burial tech, which was probably obtained from a third team- a religious one (NeuDemogyotica or Roleplay)

2)The geo-political situation will probably dictate an early war, rather than a (relatively long period of) peaceful coexistence

3)The Voxian are persian (Immortals), and we are on inferior grounds with our WC (much jungle).

3)We don't kow ***T about anyone else besides Vox (and not much about them, yet), and that NeuDemogytica and LI have made contact.

Keeping these in mind, i came to the conclusion that for us to beat these Voxians, we must acquire more information, both on the geographics (let those tacticians handle this) and on the inter-team situation (that's us diplomats department), and in order to get this, we must put aside our once comfortable but now hindering stance of isolation.

So i came up with this idea, and named it operation Cocktail Party (inspired by the cocktail party scene of Mission Impossible...).

Objective: aqcuiring information about the contacts each team made so far in the game (besides Vox). Thus obtaining important information about international relation, and, more important: finding out who shares this continent with us and Vox, and as you all probably agree- the sooner the better.

Method of Approach: Our ambassadors contact each team's respective official, and try to work a trade of the following information: which teams where contacted by them, and what luxuries they currently have for trade. The second is more of a diversion, and makes the whole deal (must be packaged as one deal) seem like a friendly "how do you do?" more than intelligence gathering. Of course, the deals must be carried out simultaneously, so to achieve maximum effect (much like map whoring).

Projected cost: revealing the fact we made contact, revealing which contact(s) we made, revealing our luxuries.

It goes without saying that the details of this operation are confidential, and should we decide to carry it out- should be kept top secret.

    What do you think?
I think it's worthy operation breaking our isolation for, and if carried out proffesionaly and carefuly could yield valuable intelligence with minumum cost. The Voxians to our north(NE,NW) are a threat, but also limit the risk that we will be attacked by anyone but them

    Excellent idea Zeit!

Zeit, one comment: they could have acquired Cermonial Burial from a hut, instead of a third party. Not knowing this changes a lot...

I am around, but reviewing these threads to figure out what to PM betahound with. It is good news that we have made contact, but now we have to figure out our approach. I want to get something out by 6PM PST (2AM GMT, Jan 2).

I like the ideas offered so far. Zeit has stated the meat of it, I believe.

        More latter.

Nice idea. If we read the tea leaves correctly, we might even be able to get a hint of what kind of map we're on from the operation.

That was also what i had in mind.
We need to get this thing moving, and most importantly, authorized by Meshelic and everyone else.

Reviving the thread- although situation has somewhat changed, i think now is more important than ever knowing how is behind Vox, and if there is, perhaps trying to win his favor- by informing him of Vox's agression- in their act of blocking the isthmus and scouting our land.

What do you say?, C'mon, it's not a bad idea, this might give us that edge we need for the upcoming conflict (diplomatic or military).

They could be in it of course...

That's the disadvantage of our rep., As long as we cant touch them, teams will be happy to support those who can hinder us.

Why not create a new thread calling for a vote on whether or not to authorize the operation? That might help push the issue a little faster.

Sounds good to me, but i fear this might fall since people would like to put little tweaks in it, which i'd love to hear and put together to make a final solid plan.

I like the idea of the proposal, but I think we should wait a bit to see what happens with the whole isthmus situation.

Anyone remember this thread? Why don't we go ahead and put this into effect, at least if Sir Ralph will give it his stamp of approval.

I don't see a reason why to delay it. Go ahead.
