    Perhaps. Good thinking.

    On the other hand, if and when we get into a war, I'm gonna push for the total destruction of the other side. Human players can't be used like the AI for extortion & GL generation (well, I suppose you can extort from a human, but it doesn't work the same way). I'd rather not leave enemies at our back.

    The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

      Normally, I tend to go for the kill even with AIs if it's practical. (When practical, I strongly favor a strategy of research and tech trading over one of warfare and extortion, and eliminating a civ eliminates all risk of culture flips.) But if the other civ has a city or two that's hard to get to, it can make a lot of sense to go ahead and make peace rather than trying to reach an island city or a city that's surrounded (at least on land) by another civ. I don't want a hostile neighbor, but if they aren't a neighbor anymore....

      It is also quite possible that a war might bog down to a point where peace makes sense. I'm a big advocate of tech advantages, and switching to Monarchy or using the luxury slider heavily to keep a war going after war weariness becomes serious would be a major setback to research. Similarly, improvements in defensive technology could make continuing a war more expensive than it's worth, at least for the time being.

        @zeit:

        Make sure to catch this one
        Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
        Then why call him God? - Epicurus

          I just checked it out.

          We don't have much to negotiate on right now, but hopefuly this will change soon.
