The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Depending on the local geography that we discover in the next few turns, I believe we should seriously think about (and plan around) a Palace jump. As I mentioned in the 'Current Information' thread, a Barracks is probably not a good idea if we plan to disband the city at some later date.

That depends on what later date, and on how many units would be produced in between. A barracks and six veteran spearmen/WCs would provide comparable military value to eight regular spearmen/WCs for the same total cost in shields, so a barracks is probably not worth it if we build fewer units than that before the jump but probably is worth it if we build more. In any case, we can hope we'll determine whether a palace jump makes sense by the time our second settler is done.Originally posted by Dominae
