Yes, and it was a bit too quickly if you ask me... I'm pretty sure alexman spotted my city earlier with his scout, but I too spotted his within 11 turns... we're only 8 tiles or so away.
Update: looks like I won't be needing to travel next week.
I hope you don't mind if I start putting my hand into trying to get this thing organized. If I have the list of players right, we have (in order of first post)
Zeit
Nathan (nbarclay)
Conqueror
FrustratedPoet
Sir Ralph
Is this list correct?
If we have our players, the next thing is probably civ choices. Conqueror suggested he could play the Vikings, but I don't remember a civ preference from anyone else. (I'm playing Egypt in two other PBEMs, so I could go for Persia or the Ottomans for a change of pace.)
Also, we're thinking in terms of a small "continents" map? What other conditions?
/edit: it's a shame neither of our Belgian friends are in this game - see my sig!

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Zeit - Unknown
Nathan - Persia (or Ottomans if Zeit wants Persia)
Conqueror - Vikings
FrustratedPoet - Carthage
Sir Ralph - China
Small "continents" map. Go with maximum land since 5 players may be a bit high for a small map? Also, what about temperature, humidity, and age? Average on those, or do we want something different? And is random barbarians okay with everyone?

Conqueror is kicking my butt in our game. He did get a settler from a hut, which helped, but I've been playing like a horse's-ass (which has helped even less ).
I've lost one city to an archer rush already (we're currently at 2510 BC), if I don't get lucky in the next 5-6 turns then I'll lose my capital as well.
Alva: you'll probably beat me in our game too - not only are you a better player than me, the Aztec.vs.English matchup doesn't favour me.
That reminds me .... I'm off to play the next two turns.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.
