Well.. I favor the "anything goes" rules: this could be a test case on finding some novel diplo options. I don't think it will change in the demogame, so why not try out some of these things on our own as well..

As to civ choice: GoW (china), Egypt or Ottomans are all good for me. If no-one else is picking a mercenary style, I'll do that. But don't blaim me if I'm a b*stard in-game, it's just part of the role

I'd like to join as well, just take take into account that i might take longer (about 24 hours) than everyone, so it might not be as fast as you wanted- but that's only if its okay that i join...

Will you use the team mailbox or personal ones?

      My email adress is: zeitan@attglobal.net.

Are we still wanting to launch this? If so, I'll set up the game later tonight (U.S. time) or whenever I get confirmation. (Zeit, the original plan was 4 players to help keep turn lengths down, so I'm afraid you're a little late unless someone drops out.)

I'll go first since I was more or less drafted to set it up, and I'll determine the rest of the order at random. I'll turn culturally linked starting positions off if that's okay to keep "who's near whom" from being at all predictable.

Fine, nathan. I'm getting PTW in a few hours, so I'll be able to play my turns without delay.

            Great, I'm here

Zeit, why not set up a new game, there's still a couple off players who are not playing

Okay, I've started the game and am about to send it to Alva. The order is me, then Alva, then DeepO, and then Alex. Let me know if something goes wrong.

In loading the game, DO NOT load from the single-player load option. There's a bug that can at least sometimes expose other players' starting positions when that happens. Instead, use the following procedure:

              1) Select Multiplayer
              2) Make sure you're set for "Local Games" and select "Host."
              3) Under "Game Type," select "Play by E-mail"
              4) Under "Game Mode," select "Load Game" and then select the file you received from the previous player.
              5) Select "Launch"

Yes, it's a pain, but it's also reasonably safe (although we need to watch to make sure Accelerated Production doesn't get turned on by accident).

One last warning: DO NOT save your game and reload it during your turn. There's a bug that seems to cause the game to grant a new round of food/shields/commerce when that happens, so we have to trust each other not to cheat.

Below are the rest of the settings:

Game Type – Play by Email
              Game Mode – Standard
              Turn Timer – None
              World Size – Small
              Barbarian Activity – Random
              Land Mass – Random
              Water Coverage – Random
              Climate – Normal
              Temperature – Temperate
              Age – 4 Billion
              Difficulty – Monarch

Players (in the order their turns will be) are

              Nathan – Egypt
              Alva – Carthage
              DeepO – China
              Alex – Arabia

Victory conditions, etc. are default except that I turned off culturally linked starting locations.

I just got back from the shop, and have PTW now (30 euro, BTW alva). As soon as I can get my shoes out, and install PTW, my save will be on its way.

Grhhh... I have run into a problem here: I installed the game, installed the patch, and wanted to open it for the first time. Get the msg "Please insert PTW CD". So I open my CD-ROM, close it again, and select 'play' from the autorun. Same message: "please insert CD". anyone now by heart what would be going on here? I'm going to restart, to see if any registry settings need to be updated or something...

BTW alva: www.softcity.be . But of curse, only in the real city of Belgium (they're better then their website would suggest)

Damn. I see what the problem is... how are you guys patch wise? because if I understand this ( http://apolyton.com/forums/showthrea...27#post1497827 ) post, the released patch is not for European versions. I'll have to remove it somehow...

Ah, thanks... So you are all under 1.14? I went back to vanilla PTW, and played my turn... I'll install the patch, the 'solution' and try again. If that works, I'll be sending the 1.14 version along,if that's not correct let me know.
