IRC channel thingi

Okay, setting up IRC channel now...
I'll need you all to register your nicks with nickserv. You'll have to use an IRC client though, no Java stuff (mIRC is good for beginners). The process is simple: connect to the IRC server and type:
/msg nickserv register put-your-password-of-choice-here put-your-email-address-here
Afterwards, an Email will be sent to your Email account with instructions on how to complete the registration process.
Once you're done following the instructions enclosed with the Email, your nick will be registered. Then, I'll need you to enter these two lines:
/msg nickserv set kill quick
/msg nickserv set secure on
Done? Good. Post here to let me know that you're done so I can add you to the access list for the channel.

The channel is set. Join with:
/join #gatheringstorm AddOneTeaSpoonOfSugar (not case-sensitive)

Well, you can't really join until you're done registering your nick and I've added you to the access list, otherwise you'd be kicked immediately (and banned if you continously attempt to join).

would this take the form of?

/msg nickserv fpspassword [email]myname@myisp.com[/email]

i.e. with just spaces between the words

It's installed on 'Poly's IRC server as well. I suppose he's using the same one that DALNet is using (it's open-source and free to copy).

hmmm, just did it and it said the password I entered was an "unknown command".

what did I do wrong?

ediy: I am incapable of reading simple instructions, that's what's wrong.

done everything now. including the 'set kill' and 'set secure' steps.

my nick is FrustratedPoet.

It worked perfectly. FrustratedPoet is there. It should work for Alva too.

In that case it's different from dalnet's nickserv, as I'm pretty sure I could access that under 'DeepO' yesterday.
