I was thinking about it and figured that it would be alot more convenient if all of us downloaded ICQ, so that whenever we would like to have a teamchat (as opposed to a turnchat) it would be fairly quick and pretty simple. I just now downloaded the new ICQ 'lite' version (which is really small, only 1.7 megs), and will hopefully use ICQ as a private communication line between myself and ambassadors/leaders from other teams.

It's up to you guys if you want to use it or not, but I think this will seriously help us in the end. You can save chat logs, all that stuff, without breaking any 'poly rules regarding PM's. You can also assign 'mailing lists' and groups of members to a folder (mine is called Gathering Storm of course). You can have chat's with many many people at the same time. It's very convenient.

Anyone else here have it? ?

And if disk space is a problem, or slow connection, don't worry because it's a really small program, especially the "Lite" version, and connection speed doesn't really make a difference at all with it.

I hope some of you (better yet, all of you!) will go down this route, I think it will benefit us greatly.

    Ok thanks.

we could do this in IRC, couldn't we? we've already met up for one chat so some more wouldn't be a problem.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

I've always had problems with IRC. I was suggesting ICQ because it's so much easier...and well because it's more convenient in my opinion.

I agree with Mesh. ICQ will be most convinenient, especially quickly for publishing memos and other notes/instructions. I have been using this program for years and found it very effective and reliable.

I have strong opinions against ICQ because it has lots of backdoors and security holes.

There are atleast 50+ hacking programs to be downloaded from internet that can penetrate to persons computer using ICQ.

No firewall software helps this because you have usually already permitted ICQ to access the internet when you have used it yourself.

I stopped using icq over 2 years ago, but if you guys want to chat over it (I like irc myself), I'll download a new version. But only for chats, I'm not going to start opening the damn thing each time my computer starts, I lost way too much time on it last time.

Heh... I wonder if my 'DeepO' nick would still be active after all these years

How about Trillian? I downloaded it on suggestion in the main forum and so far it's worked really really well. I'd say it's far better than ICQ. And it works for your ICQ, AOL, MSN and other accounts...

I can't really agree with the IRC guys, I hate it. Never ever works for me, maybe one time in thirty tries. It's a painful process, ugly, and old.
