  • Teaming-up

As I see it, the weakest team in this game are going to be Legoland (except the AI maybe .

I don't see them ever becoming a real threat, but not even the mighty GS are able to take on the whole world at once, so this could be the team to seek some sort of an alliance with .(we will deal with them at one point, don't worry )

    Any ideas on this?

p.s.: I will probably do this alot, "throwing loose ideas into the group",(not all, if any will be amount to anything) even up to the point where they don't even reflect my own opinions/preferences.
Still, I think this is important, and urge others to do the same (especially the les active members of our team )

But debating is the strong point of this game, and if not, we should make it so.

If nothing else, it's good fun

Yes, but not only equal allies; they could also be very easily intimidated. It would be great to be near them in the early-mid part of the game: no need to research since we can easily beat it out of them. Of course any Civ that is within our optimal empire size will have to be assimilated, while Civs outside of this (due to corruption via either distance or current # of cities) will be more lasting Allies.

I also think the role-play team could also be a good 'ally'. We may be able to ‘play’ them. They’re bound by their internal logic, which could be exploited. A few “gifts of good will”, a lot of kind words, and a knife in the back.

The two real threats will be the Glory of War, and Trip’s Team (I feel we should continue to call it “Trip’s Team” ).

BTW I'm all about 'throwing around ideas' even if it's not directly useful it gets you thinking.

      True,
the rpg is as good as Lego for this purpose
This is a good example btw:
I don't know what sort of chance we have given the tendency of the competition to be extremely warlike (with the exception of the builders), but I just wanted to say that I hope that you find it in your hearts to let our happy little civ live a long and interesting life.

I'm sure that we will entertain you at least half as much as we'll entertain ourselves.

We will send our most literate and talkative members as diplomats to each of your teams.

We will shower you with fun stories, complex histories, and gifts beyond imagination.

We will also rally behind unusual causes and strange religions, but be assured, any war we get into will be because of something story related. Not just a war of senseless expansion.

Treat our civ well, and we will be your most trusted allies. Abuse us, and we will passionately struggle against you, doing everything in our power to cause your ruin.

The Legolanders could be useful to us in some way in the future, although I'd say starting position has ALOT to do with how we conduct our foreign affairs. BUT should we be in somewhat close proximity to the Legoland bunch the advantages there should be somewhat obvious.

        1. Easy to intimidate
        2. Can use their territory as a possible 'buffer' zone between us and either Trip's Team or the Warmongers.
        3. Easy to intimidate (or see #1)
        4. As a builder team they will probably pursue technology more hastily than the rest of us. As they are theoretically easy to intimidate we can use them to research our science for us, that is...if we want to import our science so we can concentrate our own agenda with more ease... though this is just an brief thought.

The Role-Play Team is honorable and worthy. They could make great allies. But they can also make great back-stabbers should they decide to 'roleplay it' that way. Togas is likely to be Prez over there, but they have much talent on their team; not to mention their huge mass of members...

So no doubt Togas and his team shall be very intuitive as far as diplomacy is concerned, and I feel we should as such acknowledge them as the probable diplomatic leaders of this game, and as such a tough nut to crack.

With the RP team, it is probably in our best interests to treat them well and fairly. That doesn't mean we won't kill them in the end, but that we should be respect them. They are all very chivalrous, although I also am sure that not all of Togas's qualities will rub off on the rest of his team. Lets keep an eye on them, nonetheless.

Trip's Team and the Glory of War teams are most likely to be our foes right off that bat. GoW wants war constantly I'm sure, although I'm curious to see how their citizens (not players, but AI citizens) will respond to their thirst for blood.

Trip's Team is undoubtedly our arch-enemy, our nemesis. Like Morearti to Sherlock Holmes....

I think we should wait for the game and then think what to do first. Many depends on, who will be our neighbors.

          A couple of facts:

          - The AI is easy prey, there's 1 AI for each warmongering tribe (Trip, GoW, we), so we must conquer one AI in the ancient age (they won't survive much longer) in order to gain strength. Breaks of treaties against the AIs do not matter.
          - We're probably going to be the Iroquois. That means, the 2nd half of the ancient age is our strength. We shall use this time to get big and powerful.
          - All teams (including the peaceful ones) want to see us fail. We shall watch out careful. Especially, if one of our neighbors is one of the other warlike human tribes.
          - Don't underestimate the builders and roleplayers. They have excellent players and know that they'll be bullied.

          Stuff for discussion.

/me is out in the bar. Till later.
