SR, it is indeed a sad truth that the demo games have not stood the test of time. It's a regular commitment for a very long time, with much intensity. Most people just don't want to do that for years. Fascinating and thrilling they can be, but stressful and depressing as well.
I'm glad to have experienced the DG1 and DG2, even if trying to take down hordes of Numids without Iron is as tough as trying to win a game from a small island but at times I wonder if the DG concept is a viable project in practice.
Not surprising perhaps that people prefer to be active on the AU rather than the DGs. It's where many ex-Stormians are to be found, though
