  • Turn 206: 910 AD

Of all the days, my ISP had to pick this one to "upgrade my internet speed".

What should have been a 3-fold increase in speed, has turned out to be a 100-fold decrease. On top of that, they messed up my e-mail account, and I can't receive e-mail on my pc, nor on the webmail service they provide.

I'm using a cable modem, to get the amazing speed of 3Kbps. At most. Needless to say, 'poly is a bit slow

Good news? They're working on it. Bad news? Everyone's going home in 7 minutes, and they hope it will be solved before the weekend. Can't these guys understand I wanted to upload some screenshots?

Oh well... I'm starting on the turn in 5 minutes. First of all, I need to have something in my stomach. Don't be surpised if this is the last you hear from me today, in that case, could someone please explain my problems in the general forum, and that this is one of the few turns for which no planning for a backup player was possible.

      - done.

One point - is it appropriate to boost the pops of Typhoon and Sufa now back to 12 (11, in Sufa's case with growth next turn)?

hum, a bit quick, CH. I'm still hoping I can use my work e-mail account to send the save.

But never mind, sorry to be unclear

I've got some visitors (this is one of those days in which everything seems to go wrong), who arrived when I popped dinner in the microwave. I'll have to wait before playing. I'm pressing them, though

Boosting pop of Typhoon and Sufa: I'm not sure. I think SA can use it more then those 2 cities, as pop there will only mean increased commerce. I held off because the least that happens with our lux supply would mean they go in disorder. Once markets are closer, and with the lux we're expecting from GoW, we can probably do it.

I'll check it. It certainly is on the agenda, and te moment we need it for going full speed on tech, it becomes priority #1.

Right. Finally they left me alone

Let's first of all get the planning out of the way, so we can go further with this. If the following is a bit unordered, never mind, it's a work in progress.

This is the situation on our cities at the start of the turn, before any changes have been done: (workerpumps not included)

          Format:
City: (F for factory), spt after waste, # shields in current build (status)

          - Eli : 10 spt, 70/80 of harbor (perfect)
          - Inchon : 3 spt, 19/100 of aqua (taking scraps from other cities)
          - WoC : 15 spt, 285/300 of Iron Works (perfect)
          - Inchoff : 10 spt, 84/240 of factory (-2 fpt, needs to give shields back to WoC next turn)
          - Diss : F, WLTKD, 42 spt, 0/60 of galleon (can give tiles to SA, to get in a 32-28 rythm. 60 spt not possible)
          - Santa Ana : 18 spt, 176/240 of factory(with added pop, can get more spt from Diss. Might be able to give spt to Blizzard. Might need irr on mined grass to fully take advantage of all mountains.)
          - Blizzard : F, 32 spt, 32/100 of market (if it can get +4spt from SA, eta market -1 --> WLTKD. Might need worker add, but might be done without it as well. 1 desert to 3-shield grass does the trick. workers will give more commerce.)
          - Monsoon : 16 spt, 124 of 240 of factory(scraps city of Arashi: whatever can will go to here.
          - Arashi : F, 54 spt, 54/80 of rifle (needs to go to 40 spt or something close. Primary source of spt for Tempest. has enough with 26 spt this turn, can run a large -fpt. Next turns, workers have to be builded here, even losing lots of shields. Will probably need to go down to size 8 or 9 (currently size 12, with one taxman))
          - WW : 15 spt, 188/240 of factory (can use 1 forest chop. further, could possibly take shields from Arashi to get eta-2, instead of eta-1
          - Tempest : F, 54 spt, 0/80 of rifle. (needs to go to 80 spt. Add workers, take tiles from Arashi, coastal cities if not enough)
          - Hurricane : F, 52 spt, 105/160 of hospital (3 shields short, running -4 fpt. not much room in the food queue. Should be able to rearrange tiles with EotS, so that it gets + 4 spt (that 1 shield is unrecoverable, I think. Hoover gives double tile output, and we're at an odd number). Might need irr on fur tile. Alternative is lowering spt, and chopping forest. Any way, hopital will complete next turn)
          - OG : 11 spt, 149/240 of factory (might need to give tiles to Tempest.)
          - EotS : 32 spt, 0/240 of factory (should probably go to 30 spt, giving tiles to Hurricane. Or, continues on as much spt as possible, using forest chops to give the difference (one chop and 34 spt would eta-1). Basically, every 3 chops means eta-1, and I think we can have 6 in the area. One of the priorities for our workers, in other words.)
          - BB : F, 34 spt, 34/160 of hospital (can still have on RR on mountain --> 36 spt. 2 chops would bring eta hospital -1)
          - Tornado : F, 22 spt, 54/60 on galleon (mistake: should have shortrushed something last turn to avoid the loss in shields. Nobody's perfect. Can easily go to 30 spt after this turn, by taking tiles from Sufa. This turn, can also give 4 spt to EotS.)
          - Typhoon : 13 spt, 214/240 of factory (perfect)
          - Sufa : 8 spt, 131/240 of factory (needs to give tiles to Tornado next turn. Will probably get some rounding error tiles from Typhoon in 2 turns. Scrap city. Can use a lot more tile from Typhoon to get the factory sooner (currently eta=14) growth next turn, can use 1 more worker for extra commerce(no prioirty))

This is looking good, actually. A lot of things fit together. I'm going to have to repeat this every turn for the next few turns, until we get in something like a steady state regime... but for now it's going nicely, with a few priorities and other cities taking the scraps of the big producers.

Damn! I was totally unaware theyt changed the rules when adding workers to cities... you can only add one per turn, right? This messes my nice plan up I needed 3 workers in Tempest!

            Oh well, we'll compensate

              I don't recall any such restriction... ?

We added 2 or 3 to Apolyton Prime on one turn in the ISDG. Same patch version, same game.

Hum... one second... isn't the rule that your city has to have ample food before you can add one? Let's check

Yeah, that's it. Phew, thx, Trip...

I do have to redo everything, of course, but that's okay

At least I did not waste any workers turns... I was afraid I spent on on irr a plain, when it didn't need to do that.

I do see one thing coming: this is going to be a short night. Only Tempest took me over an hour to get perfect, and I have to go to a meeting in 6.5 hours. Oh well... I'll sleep when I'm dead

                        Start
                        - RP sends Nav, 400 gold and WM accepted. Sending WM accepted of our own.

-EotS builds Hoover dam. set to factory

                        - Cyclone builds worker, starts worker.

                        - D-ville builds cathedral. Starts Galleon

                        - Tempest builds hospital. starts rifle

                        - SS builds worker. Starts worker.

                        - I wanted to send a worker to GoW, but of course, this is not possible: we need to share a city on the continent if we want to do that. I'm definately not willing to give one of our cities to GoW right now.... bummer. CH, care to address this in a PM / chat with MZ? They still have 2 slaves of ours, I can imagine they don't want to use those... maybe we can buy them free, or buy another worker of theirs for compensation?

                        - 1739 gold, 50%, 410 bpt, 59 gpt (2 turns). the loss in gpt comes from the 30 gpt we lost from RP.
                        - 52 workers

                        Moves
In general, the specific worker moves are not covered anymore, it gets too tedious. Only important stuff is mentioned.

                        - RR on Tempest 3, 9
                        - irr on Tempest 7
                        - 3 workers added to Tempest.

                        - irr on Eots 6

                        - 1 worker added to Blizzard

                        - 2 workers added to SA.
                        - mine on D-ville 47
                        - irr on D0ville 3.
                        - irr SA 2

                        - RR on BB 89 (goes to waste )
                        - foresting on BB 7, 8
                        - damn... another small mistake which costs me 1 worker turn: needed to mine after foresting on BB1, instead of irr again. Only for one turn, to get the shields we lose with the waste of the mountain RR.
                        - mine on BB 7 (needs to go back to irr next turn!)

                        - foresting on EotS 11 (after setting WF of EotS to include that tile, of course). 10 shields to EotS. 80 more to go

                        - last worker starts RR on RP's final hill.

                        - Galley2 moves 8888.
                        - our Southern most galley Moves 222, bothering Lego's pickets a bit, they maybe get used to seeing galleys sailing past.
                        - our Northern most galleon moves 4411. Will return towards Stormia via the North.
                        - Northern most galley moves 333. Destination: Elipolis
                        - last Galleon (near RP) moves 6878 (or something similar)

                        workforce shuffles
                        - Cyclone set back to ideal pattern (needs this every turn).

                        - Arashi moves worker off A1. gives tile to Tempest
                        - Tempest takes all tiles except T 4, 41, 21, 33. 80 spt, 0 fpt.

                        - Arashi moves off Monsoon 2. Gives tile to WW.
                        - WW currently using 9, 99, 33, 2, 4, 7 (couldn't remember what it used to be) Right now is perfect for 1 forest chop.
                        - OG takes leftover tiles.

                        - Arashi moves off A7, A8. large -fpt, but rifle still has the same eta, and Monsoon will be happy to use those tiles.
                        entertainers set to taxmen

                        - EotS moves off EotS 6. Takes EotS 47 instead.
                        - Hurricane takes EotS 6. Perfect spt (1 extra can't be helped). Hospital next turn.
                        - Tornado moves off Eots 47. set to taxman.

                        - SA takes citizen off SA 9 (or 6, can't remember. identical grass). Blizzard puts it new worker there. eta market -1
                        - D-ville takes citizens off 6, 69, 32. takes coast instead (Monsoon changes coast a bit to let D-ville have all available coast) 32 spt, but can't lower. 2 fpt, but can't lower. As long as galleons can be built, quite ideal.
                        - SA takes free tiles. The new irr and extra pop means it is currently making. 19 spt. One forest chop could help.

                        Current Builds
long term plans for our cities

                        Eli : harbor in 1
Inchon : aqua in 27(will be better next turn)
WoC : Iron Works in 1
                        Inchoff : factory in 16
                        Diss : galleon in 2
Santa Ana : factory in 4 (needs forest chop for eta-1)
                        Blizzard : market in 2
                        Monsoon : factory in 6
                        Arashi : rifle in 1
WW : factory in 4 (loss of WLTKD messed up perfect use of forest chop. Can still do it, need irr of desert again to later on)
                        Tempest : rifle in 1
                        SS: worker in 2
Hurricane : hospital in 1( 3 or 4 workers added next turn)
                        OG : factory in 11
                        EotS : factory in 8 (+10 shields. needs 2(+6) chops for eta -1 (-2)
                        BB : hospital in 3
                        Cyclone: worker in 1
                        Tornado : galleon in 1
                        Typhoon : factory in 2
                        Sufa : factory in 14

                        Other

                        - Lego doesn't have Sanitation yet. Vox neither.

                        - everybody has corp now, except RP.

                        - in F11, we're #2 in production at 453 Megatons. (last turn 378). Lego is too powerful, but they can't be far ahead. Also, I wonder how much of #1 production is going to waste, in our tight build, waste is moderate...

                        - after the adding, we're at 46 workers (6 went to pop), 417 bpt, 71 gpt. The extra is not that much, as Arashi is using a lot of taxmen. Next turn will be better, when we can add workers to Hurricane.

                        - turn will be sent whenever I can get through. I hope I'll be able to upload it to my work e-mail, but I doubt it. my connection seems to reset whenever I've got a decent filesize to down/up load. Otherwise it will have to wait. Or I'll have to use a diskette to get it to work

                        Next Turn
Lots of things. But I'm too tired to search them in the previous few posts.

One good thing, though: my promotor has cancelled the meeting. Good thing I checked my work e-mail account when sending the save, he sent it at 1 am. So at least I don't have to pay attention in a few hours, I can just continue sleeping at work!
