Hi Mesh... how are you? As you see, a lot has changed since last time... a lot of the starting members are now lurkers, and a new school of members has arrived.
I can't say we've done only good in the mean time, but we're still on our way to world domination
Yeah, we've had a pretty bloody war and lost some members to burn out, but we're still going strong.
IIRC, you joined the military? Or perhaps I'm thinking of someone else that left us. Anyway, how's life? Thanks for stopping by, nice to see an old name.

Maybe someone can make some kind of update for Mesh.

GoW & ND ganged up on RP. We decided to help RP, despite having a NAP with GoW. We accepted several eastern RP cities, forcing GoW to attack us if they wanted them, which they did (after hemming and hawing for a turn or two). ND also attacked us, because we also accepted a city directly in their path in the west. They didn't waste time, though. Right to the point, those Germans.
RP had a galley off our coast, so we came up with a teleportation idea: we gave them a northern city, they unloaded their 2 horsemen, captured 6 catapults we had next door, put them back in the city, and gifted the city back to us. Presto, 2 horsemen + 6 catapults warped back to Pamplona. This ended up pissing off GoW (and ND to some extent, I think). Down the slipperly slope from the Voxodus... I now think doing it was a mistake.
The war went badly. We were trying to defend someone else's empire against 3-move units (Riders, Ansars). GoW flanked us near Toledo, and got behind us and ripped RP's guts out. After that, RP dug in with everything they had in Pamplona, while we floundered about trying to figure out how to reverse the damage.
We lost a major stack, complete with a large number of catapults, some workers and a settler (renamed a worker, but that didn't fool them) that effectively broke our attempt at a counterattack in the south.
GoW had completed Leonardos, which effectively ended our chances of matching their unit production, let alone ND + GoW, both in GAs.
Finally, in coordination with trying to arrange a peace deal, we landed forces up north, near GoW. To our shock, we received a diplomatic note from Legoland, indicating that if we attempted to press our invasion of GoW, their forces (Lego Expeditionary Force - LEF) would be forced to respond, due to an agreement with GoW. So the whole world was against us. Sound familiar?
At that point, we knew we were done. Our invasion force wouldn't have accomplished much anyway, but it was only intended as leverage. With Legoland backing up GoW, our leverage was shot. So we told GoW & ND we accepted defeat and withdrew what forces we had left. RP was given N. Stormia.
After the war, Cort Haus revamped the Gathering Storm. He did a brilliant job of giving us some real direction again, which we had lacked for quite some time. We've gone peaceful builder, disbanding most of our fleet and concentrating on our economy and wonderbuilding, in the hope that we may see an opening at some point in the future to "deal ourselves back in" so to speak.
Only one thing to add to that summary... for the moment we're as safe as can be on Stormia, as we have our entire coast covered with units. (Sea wall!) We're currently on our way to the industrial era, and as long as nobody gets marines, we should be left alone.
Lego just got into their GA, but it seems all the teams (except Vox) are gangin up on them, leaving them without tech trading partners. we hope we'll be able to get to the ToE first, and if we have coal, that should mean we will get to Hoover first as well. If these wonders fall into Lego's hand, this game is over...
At the end of the war, there was a last-ditch attempt by GS to hire GoW to backstab ND. Despite leading us on, they weren't up for it, but we got some diplomatic capital out of it that is hopefully the platform for future co-operation in opposition to Lego.
GAUL (Grand Alliance to Undermine Lego) is our name for the attempt to unite the other teams against Lego. Military action (mostly ND-GoW) has been floated, but is unlikely to be ready before Lego have Rails 'n Rifles. However, economic co-operation to freeze Lego out of Tech then luxuries are further options, of which a 'Tech Trojka' has been agreed between ND-GoW-GS.
After the Bobian war RP were given refuge in N.Stormia, where they pay us gpt to support higher GS research while we give them tech in return.
lol sounds like I've missed out on a whole lot! yes, I'm the one that left for the military, the Air Force actually...now I'm stationed in erm....South....Dakota....ugh. I work as a mechanic on the B-1B Lancer, and basically spend most of my time playing first person shooters like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory, and Unreal Tournament 2004....

Welcome back, and enjoy the show. I've been pretty tied up in RL, but CH and sleepy and others have done a GREAT job with GS. Also, you absolutely follow the suggestion in the public forum that you join the ISDG... another great team in action.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.
