  • Turn 330 AD

I have the save, and will open it and run though the production phase, and report on anything military that I can see. I'll then come back and edit this post with my thoughts.

    OVERALL STRATEGY

Uh, yeah. We need one of those.

As I stated in TS' Grand Strategy thread, the basic issue is that we need land on Bob. Productive land... as in everything below the jungle. And sooner rather than later.

The only way I see that happening is with the cooperation of GoW in a backstab of ND. To free them to do such, RP must be evacuated from Bob (potentially to return).

THEN, we figure out what to do about Lego.

    THE NORTH

Our mission is almost done there: To be the 'stick' in our negotiations with GoW. But not quite done... I'd like to move the first wave stack 8 to threaten YK (and, conveniently, still not having entered their territory).

I'd like to go ahead and load up the second wave anyway. My thinking is that we will want to attack ND across the eastern hills, and we can move the second wave to the neutral territory for faster reinforcement.

I'd like to re-assemble the northern fleet to support a retreat from GoW and an attack on ND.

Are we contemplating gifting the northern cities to RP? If so, what does that mean for building and defense?

What to do with the 3 WCs in Beta? Should they head south to act as the core of an east coast screening force?

    THE SOUTH

I'm not sure what to do with our Knights on Bob, nor the Cat in Sirocco. Alamo is on a hill with walls... what were we friggin' thinking?

/me starts smacking the hell out of himself like that little guy in the last Harry Potter movie.

Also, in my new thinking, again, look at the minimap... why are we set up to attack the one measly GoW city in the south?

I'd like to go ahead and move the 3 Galleys at OG77 to Sirocco6, even though it will cost us one turn if we want those Knights to join in the attack on ND. Also, I'd like to move the Galley from Monsoon to WW4, and load 2 Knights.

We have 2 Cats that can bombard the ND Galleys; I'd like to do that, then attack. Protect the Cats with 1 Pike and 1 MedInf.

VERY IMPORTANT: We need to be thinking about what to do with RP's cities... Keep'em ourselves? Defense issues. Have RP abandon them? They should sell buildings first.

    OTHER AREAS

I think we all agree, we want 3 Galleys and a WC screening force for eastern Stormia.

    ALLIES

Are the RPers ready for this? Again, do we give them the northern cities?

    DIPLOMACY

Well, we've reached out to Aggie, MZ, and Un0 at GoW. We'll see what we'll see. I do not believe we need to cut a deal with them to complete this turn.

We need to flesh out what a deal with GoW (and by extension Lego and Vox) would look like... map, gold, techs (current and future), territory, luxes, resources, detailed joint military planning, etc.

    ECONOMY AND SCIENCE

    Leave research on Invention.

Change Tempest to Pike, with a shortrush in mind. No upgrades this turn.

    From SR:

"We should shuffle laborers in order not to waste that much shields:

    - From hill Tempest-11 to desert Tempest-14
    - From Olibanim-99 to Olibanum-6
    - From Whirlwind-36 to Whirlwind-33, finishing the next galley in 1 turn instead of 2"

Sufa: Galley? Or MM to be a Settler farm? (we have 2 Settlers in OG, and if we DO gain control of southern Bob we'll need a bunch more)

Workers: We have a number on Stormia that are running out of things to do... thoughts? Join'em somewhere? Chops way down south?

Sorry for the delay... had to take a kitty break, and then IE crashed when I tried to Submit Reply reporting on the production phase. Re-playing and re-writing now.

      RP offers WM; accept, exit.

Cyclone celebrates WLTCD (at 6 pop?).

Tempest builds Knight; 21 spt, set to Knight in 4.
Tornado builds Temple; 10 spt, set to Harbor in 8.
Sufa builds Worker; 4 spt, set to Settler in 8 (although an economist may want to change that).
Monsoon builds Galley; 8 spt, set to Galley in 4.

And now, playing the role of the pessimist, your favorite co-general of the armies, Arrian!

Overall Strategy: get the hell out of this unwinnable war, go builder, watch and wait. This includes east coast watch ships. It will be interesting to see how the Balance of Power shakes out between Lego, ND and GoW. Meanwhile, we're not totally out of it. Yes, we needed more land (and productive land at that) to be a superpower, but it's not like we're Vox. We've got a strong base. Further, though the war has been something of a dissapointment, remember this: we did hurt ND & GoW. Not as much as we would like, but we did. This war was no cakewalk for them. It would have been, if not for us.

The North: Withdraw our forces. Yes, I know. It stings. Suck it up. Lego has us over a barrel. We concede this time, and remember. EDIT: only if there are Lego forces in view. If not, proceed for now, while seeking peace negotiations.

The South: depends on what we see. Any chance of hitting the Alamo? Probably not, given the defensive bonuses it has.

Must deal with the ND galleys.

Allies: see the RP contact thread. That about covers it.

Diplo: OPD has a PM out to Aggie. We await a response. But can someone else send something to ND?

Econ/Science: Continue with primarily civilian builds. We're researching again, right? Leave it, whatever it is. I don't want to waste another turn of research switching around.

I'll get some screenshots up, and then explain what's where.

I'll get back to Arrian's post after that.

Can't Tempest build something that wastes less shields, like a MedInf in 2? Or do we plan to shortrush a Pike next turn in order to get the knight in 3 turns + 36g?

The plan used to be just that, SR - to use shortrushing to make it a 3-turn knight pump.

No enemy in sight in the north; again, our stack is composed of 12 Knights and 4 Pikes.

We have 3 Pikes, 1 Spear, 7 MedInf, and 3 WCs in Beta.

It occurs to me that if we are successful in negotiating a deal with GoW and thus need to withdraw, I need to re-assemble the Galleys.

I'd build a galley in Sufa, it has a Harbor and we need ships, lots of them and pronto.

We should shuffle laborers in order not to waste that much shields:

                  - From hill Tempest-11 to desert Tempest-14

We have 8 Knights at Pamp6, and 12 Knights and 1 Pike at Alamo63. We lost 2 Pikes at Fort Lib; the neighboring two tiles each have 2 Pikes and 1 MedInf; we have 3 Pikes, 2 MedInf, and 2 Cats at Barc 411. We have a Cat in Sirocco that I forgot to move last turn. We have 6 Knights loaded in 3 Galleys at OG77

GoW: I can only see the fortified elite Rider in Alamo.

                    ND: 4 Pikes at Alamo9, 1 AW at Merida3, and 4 Muskets and 3 AWs (4/4, 3/4, 3/5) at Merida9. The 3 Galleys are 4/5, 3/3, and 3/3.

Note the ND musketmen. It has begun.

The med inf at the end of the road... all by his lonesome? What's up with that?

Can we bombard the ND galleys? IIRC, there is at least 1 cat down there...

But it will have to be protected from that Ansar... 2 pikes (or better yet, 1 pike, 1 med inf. The pikes need to hold the hill road, lest ND or GoW go all-out for it and then rip up the east coast, leaving us defending Pamp in the middle of nothingness.

Oh, I forgot to post it yesterday, but BF send me a screenie... there is an ND stack of at least 5 units on the mountain at Alamo87, topped by a Musket.

The mountain at Alamo 8 is empty.

Nothing else that we can't see.
