  • Lego has Gunpowder?

Spoke to Arnelos in IRC posted the log in the thread.

Apparently someone from lego let slip to someone in RP a few things about the game.

    1 Lego have Gunpowder
2 There is no Saltpeter on Stormia
3 ND and GoW are stockpiling units north of RP

The person from RP is aidun who spoke to someone in lego from team Tabemono.

Arnelos is working on convincing Lego to join the war on our side. Basically on the promise of a GS-RP-Vox-Lego build off end game.

He is suggesting to them a situation where RP get the south, GS the north east and Vox the north west.

For the specifics see the contact log.
    Are we having fun yet?

Very interesting news, OPD... we knew we cuold expect gunpowder soon, but this really is soon...

The main thing right now would be to keep it from GoW and ND, and even if they are stockpiling troops North of Spain, I would be more inclined to attack GoW to shift the war. This is not going well, so far, we have to take the lead again.

As to no Saltpeter: one more reason to take a bit out GoW before it's too late

No saltpeter on Stormia!? With all those desert, plains, hills and mountain tiles? That sucks, hard.

All that hard mountain and desert work for nothing? aww...

Anyway, should we attempt to contact Lego about getting gunpowder?

          hmm

          interesting.

Obviously we need gunpowder to compete. Wonder if we could get a bob map with gunpowder, plant a stronghold there (assuming there is some within 2 squares of the coast) and hold there.

Oct-I don't think we even have invention yet.

ps oct-be columbia was nuts saturday, wish I were there but I tivo'd the game and its going in the archives.

If Lego has gunpowder, then they don't need to actively participate in the war to beat the snot out of us. All they gotta do is give or sell it cheap to GoW/ND.

The window has closed. Even if we land in force in the north, at this point, if we start doing serious damage to GoW (which I believe we could), Lego sells them Gunpowder, and we can no longer maintain the attack.

That said, the only viable alternative is to pour everything we have into the south, bust some heads and rebuild spain.

If we prosecute the war in that way, then we need to go slow and steady.

We create a wall of slow movers, bring settlers in behind the wall, build cities and infrastructure (essentially, the plan I had mentioned before).

Rinse and repeat, reclaiming more and more of the south over time. That's not likely to raise the ire of Lego and prompt the GP sale like smashing GoW's heartland would, and it would alleviate RP's case of the willies. Plus, having all our force consolidated in ONE location makes it nigh on impossible for them to succeed against us...we do still have the largest military....

I don't know. If we can either get Lego to ally with us, or at least sign a deal with us to keep them from selling off gunpowder to GoW and ND, we could possibly be ok. It's all a long shot, of course.

P.S. sleepy: I know. You should've seen them take down the goalposts and parade 'em around town. Truly a game for the ages.

ND and GoW will likely research GP themselves soon anyway, Leo's was finished a while back.

This war seems so pointless if Lego are likely to aid either side. If we were to make serious gains in the south it wouldn't count for much as lego would be less inclined to help and more likely to help the enemy

That's why it seems better to 'feint' impending defeat (although GoW/ND may be arranging this with wads of UU's) to get Lego in on our side.

Once they're in, and we should try get them in, given this news, all parties can fully commit to the destruction of the enemy which, given the production advantages of Stormia and Logoland, would be inevitable.

RP can camp in N. Stormia (if they're still alive next turn) until Bob can be rebuilt for peaceful civs, all building towards the end of the game. Sounds cool to me.

Screw peace... we are lined up to rock the South and seriosuly ruin GoW's day up North.

                    WE NEED MAPS OF BOB!!

(among other things, I'd like to see where some saltpeter is... preferably before we have GP)
