          We could land 2 knights adjacent to Murcia next turn if we wish. We would load them on the galley this turn, and unload them at Murcia 2 next turn.

          The benefit of this is that ND could not scout them during their turn, most likely. By the time GoW sees them, it will be too late for anything other than razing the city. The knights then load back up and rejoin the main force.

            Thanks. I feel out of it, have to wait til monday for a new power supply to come in. Why doesn't Dell use standard PSU's?

                I'd suggest to RP that the pike from Madrid be send north to Toledo, not west to Pamp.

                Landing near Murcia sounds good... though what terrain is Murcia 2 (hill, forest, grass?). If it's just flat land, and there is any chance of counterattack, we're putting those knights at risk.

                Where are we planning on plopping our city in S. Spain? On a hill, I suppose?

                p.s. Nathan is correct, by the way, about the dangers of staying in no-research mode too long. I say we build a few rounds of cheapo upgrade troops, upgrade them, and then turn science back on.

                    The chance of counter attack is there, but not large unless they are waiting in ambush. The only road into the area goes through an ND city.

                    The city is to go on the hil 4 4 4 1 of Barca.

                          Hopefully medinfs were moved adjacent to ND's medinf so we can attack it next turn, before ND can move that pike onto the mountain to cover the medinf.

                            Yes, the two mi's were pushed forward.

                            The cats joined the stack with the settler, the 8 knights and 3 pikes, all fortified.

                            2 knights were added to the new road tile, joining 6 pikes.

                              Just a comment here (still on holiday, but I couldn't resist checking the turn thread): no we can't outbuild our gold if we still plan on invading GoW in the North. The reason is not the amount of shields we can produce, but the time it takes our troops to get to Wittlich... IIRC it takes 3 turns for a WC to reach Wittlich from EotS, so when waiting for enough troops to reach Wittlich we will always have enough gold to upgrade them. Of course, at that same time, another 20-odd units will be in transit.

                              That said, a mixed force setup is of course always favourable, but keep attention on arrival times. Any slowmover EotS builds needs 6 turns to reach Wittlich (again IIRC).

                                DeepO, at 7 units per turn (many costing 100 gold to upg) we can out build our gold very rapidly.
