Man, am I sick of the public forum nonsense... even though I have to keep reading it, like watching war news or something.

Can the ambassors not do what I suggested? A friendly PM to each team... maybe that will help tone things down.

I guess the Lego PM was a bit too friendly

F*ck, forgot about that, as I read when I first woke up (and yes, dear teammates, that is what I do... GS is the last thing before sleep, and the first thing in the morning).

Perhaps there is a logic with Lego though... let's keep Bob 'stable' (read: a friggin' goddawful mess), we promise not to take it over, they are invited to the party, and then we and our vassal duke it out with them and their vassal.

Heck, I'll go further... we keep our home, they keep theirs, NAP in that specific regard, and we face off on Bob.

Gutsy given their advantages, but I think we could pull it off.

We have to actually beat ND & GoW first. And I gotta be honest: that's going to be hard. Not impossible, but hard.

RP is little more than a shell right now, and will be for the foreseable future. It's not so much beating back the initial attacks. That I think we'll do. It's invading ND/GoW. That's gonna be TOUGH.

I think so too... and an additional problem is that once we start invading either GoW or ND, we must anticipate Lego joining in on the fun. As long as we stay on RP territory, there is still a chance of keeping them on the side line, but once ND or GoW cities are starting to fall into our hands, we know what will happen.

That's the kicker, ain't it? We could counter in the north of GoW relatively soon, but would that just trigger the Lego involvement sooner? many factors to be weighed.

Indeed, that is a serious deterring element in an effort to counter attack, in some sort of limited landing operation near or around Port of Isolation (a very viable venture, given the probable lack of defense, as well as their insane distance from the core were they're home defense if concentrated...

Of course, we'll have to decide we really want to send our boys there before we figure that out- but how about simply telling Lego before GoW gets the news, in a chat or something, in which we act as if we're consulting with Lego- we run the risk of exposing our plans (that it is a limited operation, and GoW knowing that will hurt our efforts to scare them and make them falter), but if we set things right, perhaps making Lego's representatives promise us to keep things secret (for what its worth). I fear that the risk of Lego telling GoW is lower than Lego interevening earlier, before we're poised to strike at the enemy's hearts (and we all know how fiercely we can do it- Vox was no weakling, and was quite prepared to fight a bloody war, supported by the nations of the world, yet crunbled in a some 7 turns of GS offensive).

Of course, this war will be different, and I'm sure we'll see Lego accepting towns on Bob when things turn out bad for GoW (maybe even ND, but I think GoW is more likely to, especially since ND is kind of isolated), but than again it might be a reason to call off an attack, until we feel we're ready to make it the final blow.

So, in short, we try to give Lego a message in the spirit of "there's really no reason for you to intervene now- build you economy and strengthen yourselves, see you when we really start to crush GoW and ND, bye!"

                    • I'm afraid this game is not going to work the way it used to. It is coming down to brass tacks for several teams, and Domination or Conquest victories have got to be on several teams' minds.

RP is in the bag for us. GoW has stated they will do something similar (most likely with Lego) if we prevail. We must deal with ND and GoW's armies first, but we have to keep firmly in mind that the oppo for the game is Lego. I'm sure they are not going to forget it, so we better not.

No information should be given to Lego. It would be folly to tell them anything. We must assume that whatever we tell them would be directly reported to GoW.

                      • Hmmm... not sure I entirely agree. A few days ago, I had an idea:

                        * Tell Lego that we are about to knock the stuffing our of GoW and ND. We realize, however, that if we gain control of too much of Bob too quickly we will be on an uncomfortable collision course with Lego. Too much war.... we don;t like to play the game that way, we like to build too.

                        * Invite Lego to join in on controlling Bob. We could do this by gifting captured cities to them, but then we are paying the sole price of war... not very fair from a building perspective. Instead, Lego needs to mount an attack as well... which we very much welcome.

                        * We agree to split Bob other than the territory controlled by RP.

                        * At such time, we may choose to negotiate a peace and hold a "builder's war" going for the SS, or choose to duke it out, or settle who wins via some sort of champion contest.

What is the harm in trying? It may well work, keeping RP off of our back.

Worst case, they communicate the offer to GoW and ND.... who will clearly pay attention to "stuffing knocking" elements of the message.

                        • That should be pursued, Theseus. However, we should not communicate any plans to Lego. We do not need their approval to defeat ND and GoW's army.
