  • Nice. The Sword of Damocles, as it were. Why not make it three-way?

Seriously, we need to think this way to allay the threat to our vulnerable west coast...
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

    • I seriously doubt anyone would agree to such a treaty. You can always ask...

      • we simply need to think of the risk for a back stab. And we might try as we want, but not one deal we strike with GoW is final, the moment it doesn't suit them, they will break it.

We can protect ourselves against them, though. Protection by not landing all our troops on Lego at once. Protection by scouting their seas (not offensively, of course), and try to spot any incoming movement. Protection by investigating that city which can reach RP in 1 turn (forgot the name) from time to time to see if they're building up forces. Stuff like that. All the in-game things we can to minimize risk of a backstab, we should take. Diplomatically, there is nothing we can do about it.

        • We can design appropriate and limited measures (there's the Subs!) for identification of west coast threats, and equally appropriate land defenses.

But we need a diplomatic iron-fist-in-velvet too...

          • T., normally, I'd agree. But remember, GoW are still the guys who have broken every single treaty we ever had with them, without exception. I don't trust any diplomatic deal we have with him... so I figure: why pour in resources in something we're not good at to start with when you know they won't hold their side of the bargain whenever it fits their needs. The only thing it does, is restrict us in our future plans. And it might piss them off, thinking we don't trust them (which is true, of course, but they don't need to be reminded of that)

            • Oh, and that doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome some contract with them, detailing what we expect of our alliance, what we offer, and what we want in return. It's just that I don't see the diplo iron-fist-in-velvet for GoW, it would only be for us.
