  • Team Discussion: Rule Infraction Punishment

I want to open up discussion on what teams think about punishments and whether they should be included in the rule document that I'm drafting.

Basically, would the teams support punishments for rule infractions?

If so, of what nature should the punishments be? Replaying the turn the infraction took place on?

Skipping the next turn of the team inquestion?

    Please discuss.

Punishment to be dished out by Trip within that teams forum.

Unless its something big, then it gets released into the main forum, where the teams can poll and decide on a punishment.

Trips been telling GoW what it can and cant do for some time now

Trip is the only person who can ensure we are all playing by the same rules.
I trust in his judgement to provide the appropriate punishment for minor infractions, and bringing major exploiting to the attention of all teams.

(As he has threatened to do within GoW.)

Trip has likewise done the same with GS, a gentle nudge here and there when we've wondered aloud what we can and can't do. That's about as far as it should go, IMHO. Its good to have the limited system in place, as it might prevent some of the problems we had earlier from recurring in the future.

I can think of one MAJOR case in which Trip told me I couldn't do something when playing (actually RE-playing) a save for RP Team. Those who read the lengthy "AAR" thread on the Bobian War read about that.

So yes, Trip basically already has been doing this to some extent.

Never have I said "team x cannot do y" nor have I threatened any punishment or enforcement. What I have done is made my personal opinion known to the teams in certain instances, never with any threats (though sometimes I will admit I use strong wording, but only to convey my own views ).

Happened the same with us, too - Trip helped by making his opinion known where we were not 100% sure about what was ok and what was not. I believe that it's just what we need to keep the game fair.

Personally (not an official Lego stance), if it ever comes to a situation when a "punishment" for a team consciously and intentionally breaking rules we all now agree upon would be needed, I'm outta here... fortunately, this is no ISDG and I believe this is never going to happen. PtWDG has been (and we're past the 200 turn mark) played in a noble way, even if it did not avoid heated arguments back in the past.

                Kudos to everybody involved.

                  Just on a further note:

I am not condoning a policy by where I am elevated to the status of God (Eye has a nice retirement package, after all ). I simply wish to bring the proposal forward so that the teams can weigh in on it. With the discussion on implimenting a system of rules a way of being able to carry through on those rules would be a logical step for most administrations. However, as Vondrack said, thus far things have been quite cordial between teams, and as long as a set of rules exists and is agreed upon, there will not be any issues.

I think we can trust Trip's judgment in most matters. So far, he has done a good job at it, and we all want to fair - play the game anyway.

If Trip happens to witness a major break of rules, that warrants punishment because it was deliberate, I suggest we vote on the punishment, with the vote being organized by Trip. There is no reason that he bears alone such a repsonsibility.

for each rule infraction, the offending team should raze one of their cities (preferably a wonder city) and disband 20% of their army.

Since Vox Controli is perfect and hasn't been chastised by Trip yet ....uh where was I? Anyway, I think that private forum 'chastisement' is enough, similar to what H_E talked about. No need to screw a team over by skipping turns, razing cities, etc.

If a team is truly concerned about a particular maneuver then ask the Eye in advance.

COOL! That would hurt you a hell of a lot more than it would hurt us!

He's referring to the fact that Roleplay cities are in imminent property of GoW.
