  • Happy Birthday PTWDG!

On this day in 2002. Apolyton gave birth (not without difficult labor) to the PTWDG.

She has survived numerous crashes and infestations, but she is still kicking... teams have come and gone, as have numerous players, but the game moves, more or less, forward to some unforseeable conclusion. Will Lego emerge from its cocoon to bring order to war ravaged Bob? When will the inevitable Spanish diaspora finally occur? Will the tenuous ND-GoW alliance turn on itself once they are the only two civs left? Will the remaining members of Gathering Storm (all five of them) quit after being sung another sonnet by an Arab poet? Stay tuned.

There are five members in GS? I didn't know we still have that much.

          Happy Birthday PTWDG!

The first SPDG and the PTWDG are where I really learned to play Civ 3.

            Happy Birthday,

Congratulations to all team members, lurkers, and the historian who have made it so far.

And a toast to all of our fallen pixel comrades.
Especially those who have died for the battle of the forested tile “Pampalona 1”
Surely this tile has seen more GoW, ND, RP & GS deaths than any other tile in the game.
Perhaps the Spanish can release the name of this forest of doom?

Indeed, I wonder how many of us there still are playing the game. I know that GS has dwindled down to...maybe 7-8 players, however only one notable has left the group (no icon) entirely.

GoW has always had only about 4-6 active players.

Lego has, for the most of the time, had a stable member base, too. 7-8 really active members and 3-4 lurkers that do vote in polls, but almost never post.

                    Happy Birthday form ND!

We have always had a lot of members but not so many real active ones just about 3-6 so the situation is everywhere more or less the same....

The problem with GS has been the massive turnover in leadership positions, not the overall bodies I guess. The causes for the turnover, i have no clue (alluding to that other thread which may or may not play a role in it). Probably burn out, we were riding Barclay pretty hard there for a while, and he did fantastic work, but you can only devote so much time to a game. Hell, even NYE only comes along occassionally. Theseus and Corthaus have really picked up the ball, but for a while there is was rough going.
