I post here now due to posts made about this issue in last 24 hours over in the Civ 4 General Forum.
Lets clarify some points.
Planet and I were seperate logon's by two seperate people. We are friends. We as friends have shared time in the Army, time in sport, time at University. We even play computer games. Sometimes we are on the same sides. Some times we are bitter enemies, as is the way of games.
When Planet joined I was not a member. Later after hearing more and more of certain demo games from planet, Paddy and others, I decided to get on in and join up. (Paddy is my cousin and friend, please be aware of that.)
We had no idea that we were not allowed to be in one demo game yet on seperate sides. I still do not remember reading or even seeing a thread or post saying that these are the rules of joining the team demo game. So this code of conduct that you talk of is good to hear about, but was not a document I was asked to sign by the game administrators.
What was the biggest crime we commited? We were on seperate sides while playing a team demo game while logged onto the same network. This network is owned and operated by Paddy, and has many users. Some are even members of Apolyton.
Not sure what you are so miffed of at this point. To this day Planet still hardly talks of you or your forum.
Yes, Planet was permanently banned from this site. I was banned for some time, and had certain restrictions placed upon me.
Here Beta you ask for calm. Yet so long after you are the one posting about this issue.
Can we move on?
Lets clarify some points.

Ming has confirmed that Planet, a member of Babylon from early in the game, was a DL for another member of Apolyton, James the Scot, who is also a member of the BOH team in this game. Planet no longer exists, and Ming has dealt with James.

This is serious violation of Apolyton rules, to say nothing of the accepted code of conduct in mult-player demo games, hence Ming's actions. We all need to work towards making sure this does not happen again.

As a member of Apolyton, I am really, really disappointed and saddened by this. As the Leader of Babylon, I am more than a bit miffed. From my perspective, it does throw into question much of the game to-date. To that end, Paddy and I and members of our teams met this evening to discuss the matter and how we might move on from here. My team will be having a private discussion shortly.

The one thing I insist on, as does Ming, is that we do not turn this into a lynch mob. The violator has been dealt with. However, we do have the future health and well-being of MP demo games to consider at this point. To be honest, my trust has been shaken, and I suspect that will not be an uncommon reaction. How we restore that trust, and move past this, rests both with BOH and the rest of us.

I believe Paddy would like to post next - so please refrain posting until Paddy does. Thank you.
And to reiterate, please keep this calm and civil. Tensions have been high at times in this game, and this could be used as a flash-point, Don't. Ming is watching.
