.... I'd say Pangea Eruptus. But that won't be a suprise as I've proposed it in the main thread. There's a lot of violence in most names. Isn't there a smallish chance that we'll coexist in a peacefull manner with one another?

SGL

Part of the game and not an exploit to me. I feel that if a civ gains a(n early) advantage, the other civs will respond. In a small game like IC it might be too unbalanced [Bongo built SoZ with SGL very early and whiped the others out, eventhough they had allied]. Here, with 6 civs there's plenty of oppurtunity to take joint countermeasurements.

I can understand the counterarguments. If most feel it is too unbalancing and don't have trust in cooperation with other civs I'd suggest (as I allready did) to allow SGL only for a scientific golden age. Cheating is very obvious and I can't imagine a whole team will support that anyway.

Just read your argument that SGL's are useless for a SGA. How's that? I thought it doubled the science rate in a city for 20 turns. I would favour a SGL for the scientific civs to have some use above no SGL at all. It devalues the scientific civs. [/edit]

Scientific Golden Age doesn't work. It says you have a shorter time frame to the tech, but you end up with "1 turn to ..." for a long time... as i'm told anywho i've only tried it once and i didn't pay attention to the tech rate. But it seems to be the accepted fact among those who know such things ...

Or we'll end up being called the Firgurehead like GhengisFarb's feudal team at MZO. They couldn't decide on a name so the game map creator (Chieftess) gave them the name "figurehead" as that was what they had put down so far...only she spelled it wrong.

China is the current leader, although Japan and Rome are still in the running I think... and maybe ottomans, although that UU is reeeeally late.

And good to see you here Rhoth! You're a valuable addition, yada yada, and I expect you to tell us when we're being dorks at a minimum

Any of those four is fine with me, though I like the timing of the knight-equivalent UUs. Of the two I prefer the Rider, but I also like the Samurai too. It's more of a tradeoff of "do we want the industrious trait or the religious trait".

Having the Ottomans would give more research power, but less military power and the late UU as you mentioned.

Overall, I'd say go with China.

Shang-Ti is the Chinese word for "Emperor (lord) of Heaven" ... playing on chinese mythos and the "Mandate of Heaven" which is supposed to be the basis for authority of Chinese leaders dating back three thousand years... could also use "Favored of Heaven". (Or just "Emperor" if you're going to be boring ... )

Could also use Lao Tzu or Kung Fu Tzu (Confucius) as leader name ... I'm not a big fan of the Mao name given it's a modern name and, well, we're not making it to the modern period i don't think But I like the more militarist name (and recognizable name) of Sun Tzu...

All of that info works for me for a straight Chinese civ...but how do they tie in with the Euphorica name?

Maybe with the Abba connection we could do leader names, etc. having to do with Abba. Perhaps have cities named after music, etc.

Oh one more thing...once we get a private forum I will recreate for us some information, templates, etc. that I have used in other democracy games.

Vox Controli was fairly unorganized when I joined it (after the failed GS war) and I left it that way since only Beta and Witt were still involved until snoop and Con came along. But for another demo game I did a lot of internal structure work to provide a reference so we didn't have to go searching for information all over the place.
