Let's have a real challenge and take on Sid. The most popular race choice does have access to fresh water, so we do have a reasonable chance.

Note that RoR just concluded was on the DG level.

Yes. Sid would be a challenge, but we all have to promise that when I F' it up, nobody claims that I intentionally brought dishonor to our clan.

Paddy doesn't want to be called in from lunch with guests again because I'm worried that I'll be banished from the Island.

Emperor is boring. Anybody can win that. Where´s the challenge? It´s just routine work...

I am fine with it though, as I don´t intend to act as turnplayer.

List of proposed restrictions I'd have at various levels of difficuly:

I. Sid : NONE!

II. Diety :
No parking units on unconnected resources in a state of peace to prevent them being hooked up.

III. Demigod:
1. The above plus
2. No pillaging with our Monks
3. No pillaging with our Ninjas
4. We may not build the War Council GW, but may win diplomaticly if we capture it, provided we have at least 25% of the land area.

IV. Emperor:
1. The above plus
2. We may not capture, but must raize to the ground any city that dares build the War Council and for good measure completly remove that offending tribe from the game.
3. No war making with hidden nationality units without an offical declaration of war first.
4. We will only try to win via domination / conquest.
5. If our Shogun dies, we will consider it a defeat.
6. We may not buy any workers at any point, unless it's part of a peace treaty in which nothing of value other than peace is going to the other tribe.
7. We will not build any artillery type units. But we may use any we capture.

If anyone is interested in what my proposed restrictions at a Monarch level [with any starting civ] would be:

1. The above plus
2. No building any hidden nationality units nor monks.
3. Shogun may not be used to explore. It must end movement every turn within one of our cities.
4. We may not build any wonders.
5. We may not keep any cities, we must raize all the ones we capture.
6. Slaves may not be used to improve lands, and upon us capturing any, must be set free within 5 turns by joining one of our cities.
7. All artillery captured must be destroyed.
8. We must personally wipe out at least six civs before reaching domination, including at least one of those that starts on the smaller landmass. Full conquest prefered.

There is a difference: By modification, the AI can't do it.

By rule we aren't affecting the AI's behavior, only our own.

We should be able to win by domination / conquest on Emperor even with declaring war prior to sending in Ninjas against them.

But don't worry, there willl be a poll on which modifications do we accept once the difficulty level poll closes.

For that matter, only one of these modifictions is similar to a proposed mod rule. (The we won't pillage with Monks at Demigod and below)

A second actually restores for us only the standard lose the shogun, lose the game rule at Emperor.

A challange is one thing, but if it removes the fun of playing, I don't see the point. I don't play as many games as others around here claim to play. I am the last guy to beat his chest and boast that Diety is for wimps. When I get my turn I'd like to think that I am able to contribute and not just allow us to survive through my reign.

As long as we vote on it or discuss it I will play by whatever rules we decide.
