  • Snoopimus II: The Macedonian Question

The second question Snoopimus II brings before this Senate:

Shall we be rid of the Macedonian menace entirely, or shall we make peace with them once we have finished them adequately?

The argument Snoopimus would bring, is that Persia and Carthage are making themselves fat on our destruction of Macedon, and they are now the significant threat. Macedon can no longer do us damage, and will make peace for any price, short of giving up several cities.

Finish a few cities in Macedon now, particularly the ones on the Aegean peninsula (Sparta, Thermopylae, etc.); that should take only a few years. Then, make peace with them, leaving Byzantium as our easternmost point; this reduces the corruption we feel, and allows us to make a RoP agreement with them, to get to the Persian foe.

I think we could allow a vassal macedon to survive as long as we hold byzantium the key to Persia

                  Why will it reduce corruption?

Less cities = less corruption. If we were to capture the rest of the Greek cities, we'd have higher corruption nearly everywhere.

I presume you're referring to Rank (OCN) corruption. More cities doesn't affect the Rank corruption of any city with a lower rank thank the new city. Therefore, while more cities will certainly increase the absolute level of corruption in your empire, an extra city will always add at least 1 gold to your net GNP (GNP minus corruption).

snoopy refers to OCN corruption - the corruption in all cities increases with every next city

Imperalism does not have communial corruption. It is instead "minimal". Only at Demigod, "minimal" is very realtive, it is a lot less painful than the starting govt, and also not quite as painful with a FP, but is still a major factor outside of Italy.

Most of the Court Houses we have are to keep cities semi-productive. (Max of 80% corrupt instead of 90% corrupt)

Cities we capture only hurt the cities that are further from the capital. (City Rank #)

I also note that almost our all core cities are closer to our capital than any still owned by Macedonia.
