We are in need of a new Moderator for the C3 Demo Game here. Paddy has stepped down after doing a fantastic job for the first half (roughly) of the game, and now we need another for the job.
I have included a poll listing the options for HOW to choose the moderator, at the request of our former moderator, Paddimus Maximus.
I will temporarily take over his role as needed until we choose another, but I have no interest in doing this job over the long term, as I have many other responsibilities ... *hint: c3cDG* I probably won't do any of the complicated thing Paddy did, just keep things moving along until you pick someone else, hint hint. Please do so soon.
Also, please avoid involving me in the current ... bruhaha so to speak, except to the extent that I as a senator will involve myself. If it's necessary, then so be it. However I have no knowledge of what has gone before - Paddy has kept the confidence of those involved - and no desire to know it. I'd prefer just to get on with the game, learn what lessons are to be learned, and end the arguments. Thanks.
If you have interest in doing this job, PM me, or post here, whatever ... please be willing to fulfill these requirements, if you do so.
These are the responsibilities of the Pater Patriae and they must be met to the letter before a candidate considers himself fit for the position.
Thank you.
And a big Thank You to Paddy for fulfiling the role so ably for the last few hundred years... Long Live Paddy!
Selection means "Selected by the previous Pater Patriae" or some other person/persons (consuls, emperor, etc.) - that will be decided later - but choosing this simply means "Is not elected by the greater body of the senate."

- Dignity. You are the Pater Patriae of the Roman Senate. You therefore must not only forego any turn as Emperor, but hold yourself completely above the level of the Senate. Petty arguments are inappropriate for you to involve yourself into, except as to bring peace to the Senate, and it is your job to maintain this order and peace above all else.
- Fluidity. You must keep the Senate flowing along. Turns must be played in the correct order and in a reasonable time frame. You are responsible for ensuring emperors know when their turn is up, and when they should play the turns by. Also you should inform Emperors of any information that is pertinent from previous reigns that they may need but not have.
- History. You are expected to maintain a log of the events of the Roman Empire, and occasionally send this log to those interested in such things. This may take the form of the Senate Newsletter or something similar. Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.
- Levity. You are expected to maintain the levity of mood amongst the Senators while not discussing vital matters. That means you are expected to relax once in a while in a Tavern of your choosing. Funds have been appropriated every year to keep such an establishment open and well stocked. (You must also keep a stock of Glen Morangie Single Malt Whiskey on hand, in honor of your predecessor. And Diet Cherry Coke, for me.)
- Elucidity. You are expected to teach those new members of the group the rules, and how to play by them. You are also expected to remind those who play the game of the appropriate rules when relevant, and to be the mediator of disputes regarding them.
These are the responsibilities of the Pater Patriae and they must be met to the letter before a candidate considers himself fit for the position.
Thank you.
